One of the greatest fictions sports fans participate in, is the illusion that great sports stars are (or should be) well-rounded people, too..... Despite the fact that the conditions for achieving greatness all but preclude well-roundedness. Listen to the pleading, leading questions of sports reporters, desperate for a 170-character bit about the humanness of the person they're interviewing.

--I fully expect Tom Brady to have serious warts vis-a-vis the value set of regular human folk. That's why I don't act bitchmade when he seems to be against those values.
