Kevin Pelton on Kanter

Enes Kanter | F/C | Utah Jazz

Kanter
Kanter's public trade demand last week cut into the Jazz's leverage for shopping the restricted free agent, whose style doesn't match the team's vision. The bigger problem is finding a market for Kanter, with few teams in need of a big man who doesn't protect the rim. As with Bass, Toronto might be the best fit. Kanter would be an upgrade over Tyler Hansbrough off the bench. That might be enough to get the Raptors to part with a pick.

Bruno Caboclo would do it for me, honestly.

Masai is too smart to let him go.

Bucks have made some dumb asset management in years previous-- hoping history repeats itself.

Oh, and lol at Kanter turning down that offer. 38mill in 4 years? Perfect offer, and I wouldn't offer him a penny more. He is not worth 7 figures. Dump his ***, let's get a shooter, and let's draft well. Playoffs are near.

I can see why they turned it down. Per minute, he's a better offensive player than Favors, who took less than what he probably would have received on the open market. I would have said a decent compromise for Kanter would have been the same contract Favors received.

Dude. Why are we ignoring defense.

I'm not. But offense is "sexy" and generally has higher value when contracts or trades come around. Kanter - if given equal minutes - is a better scorer and rebounder than Favors. Favors, obviously, is a better defender.

I agree.
Before this season started alot of this forum loved kanter and thought he was a big part of the jazz future. Hayward had just got a HUGE payday. Favors signed for 48 million.
I totally see why they turned down that offer...... hell, I bet his next contract is for more per year than that.

Jody Genessy just came out saying that the Jazz offered Kanter a 4 year 38 mil contract but his camp turned it down. They wanted Hayward type money.

Are you kidding me? If that's what the pay day they are looking for then bye felicia

The primary reason for an offer right now is to determine how hard they should be working to trade him. I think this means he is gone if they get a decent offer. If he would have taken the offer at an amount the Jazz thought was fair they keep him.

Enes' agent did the smart thing in not accepting 4/32. Even if you guys don't agree or feel that he is worth it. I don't eiter but there is no question he'll at least get 4/40.

There is no need to talk about max money but they will get Enes the contract that pays the most $$$. As easy is that.

Good post. An agent's job is generally to get his client the most money with a team that fits within the client's parameters.

So Rudy tweets out..."it is good to be home" as he returns to SLC and takes a picture with a fan.

And Enes tweets out...."Oh, patience. Oh, patience. Oh, patience."

I hope the jazz leak a few rumours just to get his hopes up, then do nothing and bring him back. Then make him guard Lamarcus Aldridge for 38 minutes on Friday when all eyes are on him. Enes will lose, the jazz will lose, and the tank will win.

Don't care too much about getting a young player back, I'd rather just get a couple of decent (preferably lottery) picks.
