Jackpotting Around Podcast: Episode 8 - To Convey Or Not To Convey and Let’s Start A Discussion About Collin Sexton

I’m not good at this stuff but you never know when a team might blow their cap for someone they really want
I'm just looking for @Saint Cy of JFC to come up with one or two examples of actual deals he thinks we could do... he won't do it because he'd rather hurl insults and move the goal post than provide real ideas out there.

You aren't following this conversation my guy. Just don't try
You said john collins had an outlier season and that the hawks probably wished they would have traded him after that season. You made that point to say that the jazz may also regret not trading Sexton after his outlier season. His outlier season happened when he wasn't playing for the jazz so they couldn't trade him after his outlier season though. (his outlier season was 2021-22 for the cavs)

I assume you are calling this season Sextons outlier season but its not really an outlier season. Its just another of many great seasons. In fact, his true shooting percentage and Efg% were both better last season.

I know math is hard and stuff, but only one of those BPM is positive and way higher than the other ones.

One stats does not make a season doe. I know that is the one you are choosing to use here cause you are you but he has had many great seasons so far in his career. This aint his only one.

Good thing we traded Simone when we did because he was having his best season of his career and that's always when you should trade guys.

We should have traded Lauri last year when he was having his outlier year (though his certainly was an outlier year which is why he won the most improved award). Opportunity missed.

Always trade guys when they are playing their best. Especially if they are just entering their prime (barely over 25) and have been trending up for a few years and are very very hard workers who are coachable. Gotta trade those types as quick as possible.

I just don’t see the point in trading Sexton for non-win now players or pieces.

Then you look at what type of deal that would be and it just makes more sense to keep him.

I can see the argument to trade him because hardy doesn't like him and because hardy and the front office think key is the future and Sexton and key don't fit. I get that. Makes some sense.

And if that is how the jazz feel then Sexton should be getting 35 minutes per game this season. I mean he has figured a lot of things out. His decision making in the paint on whether to go all the way to the rim or stop for a short jumper is way better. He is setting his teammates up way better. He is better at drawing contact and when to draw contact. He is shooting a higher volume of 3's and starting to make them off the dribble. He is insanely efficient from all over the court.

If he were getting 35 minutes per game his numbers would be pretty insane and he might be an allstar. He would be more valuable in a trade.

Bottom line is the dude is balling out so whether you are going to trade him or keep him, increasing his minutes is the obvious move in either scenario.

Kinda similar to a point we were making on a podcast.

Look I am not saying JZ listens... but I just listened to this interview. JZ talks about the last bad draft being 2013 and then lists off the guys taken after #10. Some say this type of thing is reductive.

JZ also declares Collin Sexton a top 50 player. Shrug.

Go ahead and add this to the fact he literally said early 2nds are the new firsts after the trade deadline.
