What's new

Jamaal Tinsley waived according to the internet

Since the tanking is in full mode, I'm available to play some minutes a game. How much is the minimum salary a player gets paid at the NBA? I hope it's more than what I'm making now.

We should start Hayward at PG and let's see where he takes us.

Nothing to lose.

Favors
Kanter
Jefferson
Burks
Hayward

Let Hayward control the game/tempo, feed Burks only when he's in a scoring position so that he can't put up those "just inside the 3pt line" shots of his.

We don't really have much to lose here. Lets do it.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but DesNews is reporting that Diante Garrett is the one who will be signed in Tinsley's place:

According to league sources, the vacant roster spot will be filled by Diante Garrett, the first D-League call-up of the season. The 25-year-old has been training with the Iowa Energy and played for the Bakersfield Jam last season.

Garrett was cut from Oklahoma City's fall camp a few days before the 2013-14 season began. The 6-4 point guard averaged 2.1 points and 1.6 assists in 19 NBA games with the Phoenix Suns in 2012-13.

Garrett is expected to be in Utah in time for Wednesday's home game against New Orleans, pending him passing a physical.

Good to see some new blood in there. Even little moves like this help with my personal interest level in the team. Burke being back was the main thing I've been looking forward to seeing now that we are getting killed in every game, but I'm always curious about new guys playing for the Jazz regardless of who they are.

This was published yesterday before 2:00 p.m. and later Marc Spears said the Jazz would take time and work out a few people. Maybe that plan changed for some reason, as I see Spears has deleted that tweet.

I took a quick look at the 3 guys ESPN mentioned and I have to say I'm not that excited about Garrett. Among other flaws, Tinsley couldn't shoot, so the Jazz scour the world and bring in...a guy who shot 32.7% last year???? 20% from three? And only 5 out of 10 free throws? Nice job improving shooting.

TS% numbers for the three guys are Garrett 37.5%, Marshall 45.5%, Fredette 54.6%. I would have given Marshall a long look. Not as good a shooter as the Jimmer, but more of a real PG and much better shooting than Garrett.

Garret's DLeague number were much better than that.
