I think you’re missing the human element of this. He likely wants to play.

He may opt out and extend at a lower number. Trae seemed to indicate he would do whatever the Wiz asked. Trae had the Wiz as the preferred destination. I could see them telling him they will do like a 2-3 year deal around the 40M mark if he opts out or maybe they tack another year on his deal after he has opted in to the 49M next year. I would bet they already have outlines of what it will look like.

If they don’t extend him what’s his incentive to sit?

His knee is actually giving him issues and he'd rather just start fresh with a better roster in 26' that the FO isn't purposefully kneecapping

And the league could look at Trae's knee and determine the same thing because he did have a legit knee injury.

Right... but the fact that his camp was like "yes please send us there" means they think something is or can get done with the contract. I am sure they have had some talks... I am not sure they have a concrete agreement but I am sure they have some if/then type stuff going on.

Sitting Lauri drives losing more than anything, but sitting both Svi and Nurk seems to work as well.

Cody/Brice eating Svi minutes and Hendricks/Flip eating Nurk minutes is good enough in most games And in that case you dont sit your star so no one cares and Presti has no audience.

I really hope Jazz will win this and mostly bc I have marked these Bulls games on my calendar. I love seeing Lauri go against his old team. And now they come with this ********. I didn't have an opinion on how the game should go before this.
