What's new

Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

Why would the Jazz give up the pick this year? Why would JJJ be against sitting when he has a long term contract.

I guarantee the Jazz haven't tanked this much to just give it up for the last 39 games
We just made Memphis worse and they were trying to lose before this trade. That's one team that's very likely going to jump us in the tank race without even considering we are getting better. It's easy to tank when you only have a few players you should "manage". Now you give those few players another one and it makes it both harder to convince those few that you have to tank and the new one that he needs to sit. I really think we will be in a lot of trouble very soon trying to hold onto this pick. It would need to be even more shameless than last year for us to keep it.

Only if they’re bottom-4 can we assure that. Which is what the primary objective of this season should have been about from the tip.

I know you know the first part, I just really don’t want there to be any confusion that the unlikely can happen and we saw that happen in the lottery last year. Under extremely suspicious circumstances.

I don't personally believe the lottery is rigged, and I'm personally comfortable with the odds at the 6th worst record.

If I did believe the lotter was rigged, then yeah, we would really be tempting the league by trading for a former all star and sitting him and our other former all star for half a season.

We made Memphis worse which means they can lose to more other tanking teams. More teams tanking helps the Jazz keep the pick, not hurts

... and a bunch of crying. Calm it with the personal attacks.

The trouble is that JJJ is not "big game" but he's paid like that. He's an overrated, overpaid soft big who doesn't pass and has zero dog in him.
tbf when somebody does nothing on here but complain for years about the Jazz tanking, and their initial reaction when the Jazz finally signal the end of the tank is to complain about it, it makes it difficult to beat the "I'm just here to complain" allegations.

Wonder how JJJ feels about coming to Utah.

Any thought for why this deal couldn’t happen in the offseason? Pretty awkward situation for the remainder of this season.

It couldn't have happened in the off season because Memphis wants to tank for this seasons draft now. They enter to rebuild with this move. He was about to be traded now to somewhere.

JJJ will play. And he will be nuking our greatest tanking weapon which is providing absolutely no resistance at the rim when he plays.

Calling you a little bitch isn’t a personal attack, it’s an evidence-based observation. You’re free to go to my post history and find where I defined the term, described the pattern of little bitch behaviors you’re exhibiting and offered you several solutions.

landale, absolutely, but he's on an expiring deal. maybe they try to sign him as a ufa this summer - who knows. williams has been a rotation guy for memphis the last three years - he has talent, but his shooting this year has been horrendous. i like konchar, but he hasn't been able to get off the bench for a horrendous memphis team - might be out of the league after this season.

This.

Let's not pretend this is some underpay. The Grizz had do get rid of JJJ anyway, and he probably had zero market.

If Kessler is gone, Landale can be useful in spot minutes off the bench and I presume they'll resign him. If Walker stays, there's no way Jock is here next season.

I'm here... did anything happen?

Wild stuff... In a vacuum I don't love it. I need to see the follow up moves here. They say we are keeping Walker... well if he gets a big offer that ain't happening now for sure. $125M in cap dedicated to Lauri/JJJ/Walker is pretty tough when you gotta fill the rest of the roster.

JJJ will end up driving so many of us crazy at times. Super talented and I get it... but prepare for at least a few frustrating nights.

Williams is cool.
