My greatest fear is that we will still somehow be terrible on defense even with JJJ and Kessler.
Yes, but they have no remaining capspace for next year to carry mediocre players on longer term deals like the Lakers would want us to do.That’s not a necessity. The Jazz also have an $18m trade exception.
Yeah but whats their DPMXY+ rating with only 4 players on the floor with an early tip off on saturdays? Ya know?Jazz have two of the best shooting bigs in the NBA and two of the best defensive bigs in the NBA.
My fear is that the FO and the fan base would be in a honeymoon period (that extends past the trade deadline) with the idea of keeping Kessler, only to have reality set in and it’s too late. Right now everyone is laughing and sharing TJ tweets about how the Jazz want him, but then when summer rolls around and it’s “oh yeah, we like Kessler but it’s just logic, there’s no ****ing way you can retain him with the cap situation and where you’ve already spent your money. People shouldn’t be mad about that.” Which is exactly what we’re saying now, but they’ll be saying in the summer like it wasn’t patently obvious on February 3rd.Keeping Walker is untenable after this. It just is. When you pay the ultra premium price for a thing you have to start making substitutes elsewhere. Jazz are sitting ducks for an RFA offer that would be insane to match. The market is swimming in caproom this offseason and not a lot to direct it towards after Peyton Watson. Walker is high on that list.
They honestly need to try to trade him now if they can get proper value somewhere (Lakers can offer *one* pick right now).

Isn't he like... 35% shooter? Not bad by any means... but one of the best?Jazz have two of the best shooting bigs in the NBA and two of the best defensive bigs in the NBA.
The Lakers will have more capspace than the Jazz. That’s just not an essential part of a prospective deal.Yes, but they have no remaining capspace for next year to carry mediocre players on longer term deals like the Lakers would want us to do.
Ace, Cody/Vince Williams will be able to contain guys on the perimeter. Plus there's an accumulation of length with Walker, JJJ, Lauri and Ace that is going to be difficult to navigate.
