What's new

Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

Celtics didn't give up 3 firsts (and possibly this year's first as well) plus 50mil in salary for Horford though, did they? The moves to acquire Derrick white, Porzingis or Holiday wouldn't be possible if they gave up same kind of assets as we spent on JJJ.

First of all, the Jazz aren't giving up this year's FRP.
Second of all, the players the Jazz gave up aren't consequential.
Thirdly, the picks the Jazz gave up in '27 are probably both in the 20s.
The only wildcard is the '31 PHX pick, which is a mystery box in 5 years.

Memphis dumped JJJ's salary, and the Jazz were willing to take it.

Lauri averages 28 ppg. Keyonte averages 24 ppg. JJJ averages 19 ppg. Why would JJJ think this is his team?

The NBA doesn't really work like that and you know it.

Salary matters, past accoplishments matter. JJJ is a two time All Star, a former DPOY and the highest paid player on the team. While I don't think he's coming in with a selfish attitude, he won't just agree to be a 4th option either.

He definitely thinks he's the biggest name on the Jazz now. And he's right.

assuming they are shamelessly willing to tank and keep their pick, If the Jazz nail the pick in 2026 draft, and the fact they may have 7 more 1st round picks through 2032, they could be in a good spot... That said, I just wish Laurie was 2-3 years younger.
