Haven't posted for a while and the mods deleted me, but I'm back to harass some of you Jazztards.

The Jazz are more or less done building this offseason. They need to fill up the required roster spots but should do so using as little money as possible IMO. I'm wondering what kind of signing exceptions they'll have next offseason. Right now we have:

Deron Williams $16,359,805
Al Jefferson $14,000,000
Mehmet Okur $10,890,000
Paul Millsap $6,700,000
CJ Miles $3,700,000 (team option)
Gordon Hayward $2,532,960
Raja Bell $3,300,000 (estimate)

That's $57.5 mil, 53.8 without picking up CJ's option. I see Okur as an expiring trade token. The cap next year probably won't be much over $58 mil. That doesn't leave a lot of room. Do the Jazz have any options?

I think some of our extra dough might be spent on bringing Tomic over. I am sure KOC will be watching the World Championships with a lot of interest. To bad almost all of the best NBA players have pulled out. Based on What Splitter and Pekovic (sp?) got what might be able to bring him over for about 3-4 million.

That's why it's imperative the Jazz use AK's expiring to trade for a starting wing (or a good 5). The only money they'll have is the MLE.

Add a starter to the names listed above and you've got a pretty darn good core 8. Then you just need to worry about replacing Memo in the rotation, hopefully with a bigger 5. And, of course, the search continues for an adequate backup PG.

We have no idea what the CBA will look like for 2011-2012. Anything we say about that season isn't much better than a pure guess.

Wow! You're on the Jazz...which player are you? Can I have your autograph?

Hayward is getting 2.5million? I thought only top 5 picks were guaranteed that type of money. god damn.

For the first time in history, someone used the pronoun "we" to describe the team he or she roots for. And you caught it.

Congratulations.

Nope right up against the cap. AK being resigned is really the only move we can make, or sign and trade him to bring some talent back.

Is that you Gordon Chiesa?

I don't think it is imperative to trade AK for a starting wing. He is a starting wing. It is imperative to get AK off to the right start and see if he can be an excellent role player. He is a good passer into the post and might be the best player on the team to get AJ the ball in the low post. Yes. I said best. Deron is light years beyond anyone in the open court, seting up the system, pick and roll etc, etc. But standing on the wing and patiently waiting for the right moment to get the ball to AJ after the cross screen (i'm guessing they are coming back.) AK is longer and better at passing than most of his defenders are at defending the pass. He could be the right guy (at the right price.)

Maybe it is my view that LeBron, Igudala (sp) etc are not going to just join the Jazz. But also, like i said if AK has a new lease on life (like his play for the 18-2 streak games 40-60) then he is the right guy to have.

I don't think Memo is also "out the door" automatically either. Depending upon AJ's ability to be that 'shot blocking center,' Memo is a good option to have to match up with as a 6'11" shooting guard. As we all know, he is not 'the man' in the post offensievly or defensively but maybe he's ideal as an augment if AJ is the big Nasty.

I'm not predicting this is the exact group needed - but it could be.

If we can dump AK, sign Battier on the cheap (MLE?), bring Tomic over, and sign Kendrick Perkins, I'd be freakin' ecstatic. That's asking a bit much and we'd be going over over the LT but still. If we dumped Okur somehow, we'd be okay.

Williams-???
Miles-Bell
Battier-Hayward
Jefferson-Millsap
Perkins-Tomic-Fes???

That's a ****ing beastly team.

Another think that could be coming back is "the Malone seal" if AJ is strong enough to push his defender out like Karl could. Horny would throw the ball over the top. But this depends A LOT more on the ability of the passing wing and Hornacek was loaded iwth hand-eye coordination.

Also the changes to the offense like this might eliminate or accentuate AK's role with the team. If there is a lot of options for a short pass from AJ off a double team, AK could be the beneficiary of a lot of those two-handed dunks under the basket as a result of his excellent skill at cutting to the hole.

I think there will be significant changes to team chemistry and on-court methods with this new dominant player in town. (Not monumental like the Jazz are adopting the spread and shoot a billion threes. Just in the way the jazz will learn to take MAX advantage of AJ's primary skill sets. (e.g. Compare the Malone era to the Boozer era.)
