Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

I was listening to the KOC/Verno podcast and KOC said something along the lines that Indiana might not want to do a Russ trade because they arent interested in bottoming out.

So a 4-teamer might be possible between NYK/LA/UTA/INDY

Whipped one up real quick.

I’m not sure Indiana’s reasoning on taking on Randle?

Yeah, me neither, but KOC mentioned it.

Basically they are just buying low on Randle by shipping out the often injured Myles Turner and they get a flyer on Reddish/Reeves with a 1st rounder from Dallas this year.

The Jazz could also include more pieces to Indiana if they needed more. Someone like Vanderbilt could interest them.

Even if one or more of the players we got in the Minnesota trade are involved in this trade and it can't become official until September 6th, couldn't they still agree to it and announce it before then? It seems like other trades have been announced well in advance of actually becoming official.

Yes, but I’m thinking it would likely come a few days before like on the 3rd or 4th.

What about the original Hield/Turner package but they get Bogey and other players plus a first?

Bogey doesnt make sense for them.

I think the Pacers are going to want guys who are youngish, but ready to compete now.

Bogey is too old for them and is an expiring contract.

And the whole point of including them in the New York trade is so NYK has someone to take Randle so they are more open to unloading all their picks and becoming a team that can create a lot of max cap-space in the coming years.

Maybe Indy/Uta/LA can do a 3 team deal, but no one Utah can give them has the All-Star upside Randle has.

I'm a lot less interested in the Knicks picks if we help them offload Randle. Them choking on that contract is the secret sauce.

If the Pacers did the trade I proposed their depth chart would be like:

Haliburton/McConnell
Hield/Mathurin/Reddish
Duarte/Brissett/Reeves
Randle/J.Smith
Bitadze/Jackson/Theis

And they would have 3 first round picks (Boston's/Dallas/Their own) in 2023.

Obviously Randle sucks and we here dont like him, but maybe Indiana thinks they can do something with him. That's a team deep with interesting players and a lot of room for flexibility plus 3 picks in a loaded draft.

Indiana is one of those teams who isnt going to value cap-space because they dont think they can sign anyone. Randle might look like an opportunity to them.

The secret sauce is just them striking out in free agency and not getting a top 20 guy to join Mitchell, or just general bad injury luck.

They will get off Randle eventually one way or another. He isn't that bad of a player and his contract will look mild two years from now.

If helping facilitate NYK getting off Randle gives you 6 unprotected picks from the Lakers/Knicks you do it, plus you get RJ.

I’ve seen Randle to the Suns thrown around locally online for salary and their 2023 1st. Maybe he doesn’t have negative value to some teams I don’t know.

Too many parts to announce early if it is that big… as @Elizah Huge mentioned maybe a day or two in advance.
