Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

A couple of deals that work under the PPP:

Mitchell + NAW for Barrett/Rose/Sims/McBride

Mitchell + Gay for Barrett/Fournier/McBride

Mitchell + Gay for Barrett/Rose/Toppin

Mitchell + Gay for Barrett/Rose/Reddish

I’m sure there are a few more combinations but these are certainly workable.

That's fair, he's no KD. It's the world we live in now but I find it funny when these guys show their displeasure by scrubbing the team from their social media.
It’s a funny temper tantrum now but it’s the first sign that he mad… if it turns to him not playing along it can hurt us. Often times if the trade doesn’t happen things get messy… because the player realizes the team won’t settle unless they add some urgency. Hope that doesn’t happen here. With his agents in bed with the Knicks FO that could be not fun.

He better be just as mad at the Knicks! They are the one that didn't think he was worth a 3rd unprotected pick or Grimes.

My dream of getting RJ might be over I’m not sure… but just follow along with me for a second. If the deal that was close was RJ/Fournier + picks what does adding a Gay/McBride swap really matter in the grand scheme of things especially now that we know RJ would be locked up for 4/107M?

The other angle is the Knicks told RJ’s camp that he was going to get traded to Utah and later said here’s this extension if you sign it we won’t trade you. I don’t know maybe that’s plausible.

I just want to say I said the reports that the Jazz weren’t interested in RJ were bogus from the beginning.
IMO not being interested in RJ was reasonable. What was not reasonable was the reasoning that was given and this is what made me doubt the reports. IMO the only reason to not be interested in RJ is if you actually don't value him highly... the rest about having to give him money, about us entering rebuild and paying a young player a ton was total BS. What kind of reasoning is that? WHO DO WE PAY if not young talented players? This is precisely the type of players we should be aiming at.
