Jazz any closer to knowing their 2019 roster configuration?

I think Royce actually has a shot to provide some of that if we can't find something better.

It is crazy you say that because I was thinking the same thing recently. If Royce can continue to develop and Jerekbo can continue to contribute, we might be able to platoon the PF position. If that is our plan, I hope we can draft a PF to groom as the future at the position. There are so many good bigs in this draft.

With that idea, there are so many lineup potentials
Exum, Mitchell, Ingles, Jerekbo, Gobert, Hood 6th man
Mitchell, Hood, Ingles, Jerekbo, Gobert, Exum 6th man
Exum, Mitchell, Hood, Ingles, Gobert

So much of a plan built around a PF platoon comes down to Gobert staying close to 100% for a long time OR we hold onto Udoh long term. And of course Hood and Exum staying healthy.

Most of the desirable outcomes come back to whether we can find a STRETCHY+PLAYMAKING power forward. Not just stretchy. Those are the ideas I want to hear about.

Here’s my NBA2k fantasy idea that makes us contenders next year:

Burks to Chicago for Mirotic.

Favors to Cleveland for Crowder.

Rubio to LAC for Patrick Beverley and trade exception.

I think the first one is debatable, the second one Cleveland would do, and the third not possible (at least not with Rubio).

Gobert / Udoh / Bradley
Mirotic / Jerebko
Crowder / Ingles / Sefolosha
Mitchell / Hood / O’Neale
Exum / Beverley / Neto

This surrounds Gobert with perimeter shooters, not to mention a bunch of BAMFers.

Seriously, if you have Mitchell, Gobert, and a well-rounded, productive stretchy/playmaking big at the 4, you can pencil that team in for 50 wins a year. You can figure out the other pieces as you go.

Ideally someone that can play defense... at least a little.

I really think Royce has as much of a chance to fill the gap there as anyone. Good rebounder, good enough shooter, willing ball mover, tough defender... he needs to play more to get some comfort out there, but once he’s comfortable I think his playmaking will be more obvious.

Another reason why we need to maximize Favors' value in the coming weeks and trade him for the best return we can get. Finding out how good Jerekbo and Royce can be is crucial to 2018 decision making. We can't invest a ton more in Favors if he just plans on leaving in the summer.

Just ran through some numbers on Royce... Don't sleep on him.

Rebound % is good enough to play the 4... Good enough shooter to affect things there and Ast% is really damn high for a forward, who is a rookie and used sporadically. Draymond's Assist percentage in his breakout year was 15.5%... Royce is at 14.5%.

Favs won't be moved until Rudy is back. We won't get anything good for him unless we take on money... prepare to be underwhelmed on that trade.

With the timing on Rudy's comeback I am thinking the Niko for Favs trade still may be a possibility. They need to get Mirotic out to start the tank again.

I still think this trade is a win for us and worth doing for the Cavs:

Favors and our 2nd
for
Frye, Osman and Cleveland's 1st (not the Brooklyn pick - their pick estimated to be in the very late 20's)

Favors gives Cleveland a legit center to pair with Love for the playoff run. Our 2nd will be about 15 spots lower than their first, but it doesn't represent guaranteed money. For us, Frye is an expiring. Osman is a young but promising SF. The late first isn't a strong asset, but maybe it could be used to move up a little in the draft or used to dump a salary.

I saw small-ball 4 the moment I watched him play. Dude can obviously rebound like a monster for his size.

I've already set my expectations on the Favs-will-expire-and-leave scenario. In fact, I'm deeply there. I'd be seriously surprised by any other scenario.
