They could, but they'd be replacing one 'Designated Player' with another, so Miami still couldn't trade Bam to BRK. If the Jazz brought Gobert into the mix that would work.

Bam goes to Utah, Gobert goes to BRK, KD goes to Miami.

Yes. Its the weird rule that you can't have two players that are on designated rookie deals at the same time that you traded for. Weird **** trying to protect small market teams... ends up just not working well.

I think Donovan is actually pretty smart... and he likely knows Knicks are a damned tire fire until Dolan sells. It was telling that when the reports came out it was like Atlanta and Miami and not NY. I think he would much rather go to Miami... hanging with Jimmy... Bam is in Louisville right now with him playing pickup... he trains there... just saying.

But the thing is, they arent terrible if they Donovan.

Hell the guy who just cooked him got added. He might have really high opinion of Brunson and Barrett. He might think he can make Mitchell Robinson look as good as Gobert. I dont think Mitchell is very smart when it comes to basketball. He's likely a guy who thinks Carmello is still a top 100 player in the NBA or something like that.

I would love to be wrong because the NY package is much juicier than the Miami package.

That wasn't the damn point of the conversation. Somebody said it's all planned to go to NY and I explained why that makes no sense. Cy busted his big head into it and twisted the context of the conversation.

I guarantee they aren't. Tanking doesn't guarantee success. In fact it usually doesn't work.

Your reasoning for it making no sense was specifically because the Jazz would take back bad contracts.
