What's new

Jazz at Rockets- 4/11 - 6 PM MT - UTAH SCALPS SCOLA!

Carrolle brought it tonight, I'm a fan.
The offense looks 400x better when we don't post up Al every possession.

Al is so much better when Utah doesn't use him like he's Kobe. He should not get more than 15 attempts and at least 1/4 of those should be assisted. Al is a good option late in the clock but it's not good to just constantly dump into him early unless he's on fire.

He looked better tonight for the little bits I was able to see. I don't get home till 8 so I always miss these early games. No replay urgh.

This is what we've been waiting for gentlemen, the night where the Jazz fly down to Texas and lay the wood on the Houston Sparklers. We're not scared one bit. Bring on Scola and his girly looks, he's soft in the post. Also, Dragic will be head-butted to the skull by Alec "thug mentality" Burks. We aren't worried about your little win streak Houston, you are going to get owned in the paint tonight. Favors is going to wag a Dikembe Mutombo finger in Camby's face as he rejects that soft ****.

Jazz - 104
Houston- 92

Better let me check that crystal ball out for you. You were too high by a whole point on each of the totals. I guess you deserve rep for that.

I reached too far for that one..

Summary: Hayward played like an MVP, Milsap went in a zone, Harris ran the offense very well, and Carrolle brought the energy.
Al did play a ton better on defense and that is probably because he didn't have to work so hard on offense. He still had Al moments when he wouldn't pass off the ball off a double team.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention... What a difference it makes when you have a capable backup PG. tinsley hit some nice shots and made some good plays. He isn't a shooting liability and is quite honestly playing better defense and running the offense better than Earl. Finally the 2nd unit isn't a liability as it was under Earl. When Harris got into foul trouble, tinsley came in and provided us with good minutes. I shudder to think what would have happened tonight if Earl would have come in....

I'm sure the tards at clutchfans are whining about the refs, despite the Rockets getting 7 more FTs than the Jazz (13 more if you don't count the last 6 the Jazz shot out of Houston intentionally fouling them) and the Rockets shooting 35% including a blistering 4-22 from downtown (a whopping 18%).

Hayward, Sap, Al, Favors, and Carroll all had great games. It's always nice to see the Rockets lose.

PKM to answer your question about Kanter, I also wanted him to stay in another couple of minutes but between him and Burks they just made a few to many rookie mistakes and with as big as this game was and HOU gaining momentum I think Corbin didn't want to risk it.
Kanter had a few TO's and Burks was not playing smart D, both played hard and aggressive which is nice but neither played smart IMO. I did see the coaches or players talking to them trying to explain what they did wrong (Kanter holding the ball low again on rebounds and against the zone panicking a bit, Burks mostly just being to aggressive on D).

Definitely impressive win especially with the Jazz being 5 short well 5 1/2 considering the foul trouble Harris was in the last 2 he got definitely cheap ones that weren't fouls. It's almost like the refs (especially in the 2nd half) picked out the Jazz' weakness (PG and depth) to help even out game so the home team didn't get blown out.
I mean at one point Dragic had as many or maybe 1 less FT then the whole Jazz team and Lowery as a back up PG had 10FT to the Jazz' team of 14FT.

I think this is the type of defensive play and hustle we all hoped to see the past several games, the Jazz might not always shoot this well but they can always play with that aggression and tough D. Also hope the rookies can join in and take advantage of the possible minutes that are there for the taking, well more so Burks as Kanter has more players (Al, Favors, Millsap) in front of him but there still is more minutes to be had if he can play well.
