If Wiki is to be believed:

1. The name you're referring to is Persian. As such, using the Turkish spelling, especially on a Utah Jazz message board, is odd.

That happens. My dad's name is a common Albanian name-- and that originated from Persia as well (and likely came from Turkish occupation).
