Jazz Decades NBA Fantasy Draft

sorry was distracted, here's my pick..

Magic Johnson

I thought vslice would take him and i'd grab Bird(another case you can't lose with either player), but i'll take Magic's versatility over Bird. Even though I drafted Nash at PG, Magic will bring championship experience to the PG position as well as ability to play other positions. If Jordan's GOAT than Magic is probably 2nd best.

Thank you.

I take Larry Bird.

24.3 ppg on 49.6% from the floor, 88.6% from the line, and 37.6% from downtown, he also averaged 10.0 rebounds per game and 6.3 assists per contest over his career--this makes him the only 20, 10, 5 player in NBA history. Add in the fact that he won three straight league MVP's in the 80's, three rings, two NBA Finals MVP's, and that he was one of the most clutch performers in NBA history and I get the assassin on the wing I needed. Most also don't know how strong he was defensively. A tough, heady defender, Bird accumulated three Second Team All NBA Defensive Honors.

To top it all off, not only could he shoot and lead you to multiple rings but he could act. Celtic Pride, Space Jam, Blue Chips.

An impressive resume that's as versatile as any in the draft.

PG-Kidd
SG-
SF-Bird
PF-
C-Shaq

I love the chemistry of the starting members thus far and think they'd play amazing off one another. Kidd could find Bird or Shaq so wonderfully and selflessly. Shaq and Bird could play an insane two-man game, nearly unparalleled. And my three Jazz guys of Hansen, Russell and Kirilenko bring a defensive mindset off the bench that I want.

My team just took a HUGE leap forward. Bird and Shaq have five Finals appearances apiece (with seven rings between them) and Kidd has another two. Those 12 Finals appearances and their great leadership should bode well in a big game.

Isiah Thomas

Zeke is a 2 time NBA Champion and a Finals MVP. He averaged around 20 PPG, 10 AST, 2 STL a game in the 80's. A great team leader and floor general that could get any place he wanted on the floor. Although considered an epic douchbag by most opposing players, he got the job done and was well like by teamates.

7th pick of 80s NBA Fantasy Chad takes:

clyde_drexler_main.jpg

A guy who could do a lot and do a lot well. Averaged over 27ppg twice in the 80s over 20ppg a few more times. Good passer averaging 6 assists per game. 6rpg. 2.5 stls per game. Voted as one of the 50 best players ever. Hall of Famer.

G- Stockton
G- Kobe - Drexler
F- Barkley
F- Dantley, Millsap
C-

I think I know who my 80's pick is, but I want to figure out who I'm getting in the 70's first.

PG -
SG - Julius Erving
SF - Scottie Pippen / Matt Harpring
PF - Kevin Garnett / Thurl Bailey
C - Mark Eaton

Alright, team-building mode is taking over.

With the 8th pick of the 2011 1980's NBA draft, NUMBERICA selects...

REGGIE MILLER

Getting right to the point, I need shooting that I can count on, keep on the court, produce at a high level, and do a little bit of everything. I won't reveal my hand too much or ramble on too much, but I just need shooting and shooting I can count on with a guy I can close games with and can produce at a high level. Miller is THE BEST guy left available in this draft with that kind of ability (and one of the best of all time).

Miller produced at a high rate the second he was drafted and had easily one of his best seasons in '89 (second highest PER for his career, highest eFG%, most PPG) and shot at about 50/40/85. And he shot A LOT of 3s, especially for his time, with more than 25% of his attempts coming from 3, but he still got the line. He was also a good passer and didn't make a lot of mistakes (averaged very few turnovers for his usage rate). Considering that I will have plenty of guys that can handle the ball and score on their own, the fact that he's one of the best off-the-ball guys the league has seen and doesn't make mistakes bodes well for my TEAM. That's what this is about at the end of the day.

With the 1st pick of the 2011 1970's NBA Draft, NUMBERICA selects...

Walt Frazier

Walt-Frazier.jpg

Point blank; this guy played a winning game.

With a two-time NBA champion, HOF-er, six-time All-star (one ASG MVP), five All-NBA selections (three 1st, two 2nd), and five All-Defensive 1st team selections, I could do much worse. And that's all in the 70's. Going back a few seasons, you can add two more All-Defensive 1st team and one All-NBA 1st team honors. It certainly helps that he had a killer instinct and was very clutch. Besides all of that, I need at least one true PG (although I will be playing Lebron at the position to at least SOME degree), and Walt is definitely the best I'm going to get at this stage. I looked long and hard at taking Tiny Archibald, but he just wasn't the same player. Had some impressive statistical seasons, but he was up and down and just didn't win like Frazier did. The ELO ranking and most all-time lists agree. Win-share statistics agree. Frazier is also a big guard and adds to a team that I'm trying to make powerful, and it can't be understated that he is one of the defensive greats the league has seen, especially for the time and even moreso for his position.

He also might be one of the most stylish to ever live.

Vicious.

Damnit! You seriously just ****** up my whole draft. I thought, for sure, I'd get Walt. I'm sure you, ESPN, and others are in a conspiracy against me because I'm a UK fan.

With the 2nd pick of the 2011 1970's NBA Draft, Chad selects:

GoXxj.jpg

Though not as dominant as he was in his earlier day Wilt was still a force in the 70s. Part of the '72 Lakers championship team, that won 33 games in a row. It's Wilt, what more needs be said.

PG - Stockton
SG - Kobe Bryant, Clyde "The Glide" Drexler
SF - Adrian Dantley
PF - Charles Barkley, Paul Millsap
C - Wilt Chamberlain

Don't like the chemistry on your team. At all.
