Jazz Future Pick Watch: Minnesota Timberwolves are nearing a trade to send Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo

I get it for the Knicks. They get a bonafide #2 guy next to Brunson who at least spreads the floor, even if he's flakey. Towns can play at the 4 or 5. Bridges and OG can 3D on the wing. The Knicks aren't strong contenders, but they improved their chances.

Twolves are putting the main offensive load on Ant Edwards. Their defense will be fine, but they lost some offensive firepower. If you're going to bring in Randle, you kind of have to let him take a bunch of possessions on the ball. Maybe that works, but I'd rather let Conley and Edwards handle. Naz Reid, if he plays like he did in the playoffs, can make up some of Towns' offense. Naz Reid's play lets the Twolves at least try this.

They barely made the playoffs when KAT missed most of the 22-23 season. I also just think Randle is a terrible fit next to Rudy.

Randle is a tough fit next to most people. He's a point-forward with limited shooting, limited ability to get all the way to the rim, and limited decision-making with the ball. It's not ideal. His best role would be as a Lamar Odom-like Robin next to a real Batman. I can see why the Twolves would try him next to Edwards, but I'm not overly optimistic this is going to work.
