Jazz Future Pick Watch: Minnesota Timberwolves are nearing a trade to send Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo

They barely made the playoffs when KAT missed most of the 22-23 season. I also just think Randle is a terrible fit next to Rudy.
He missed 1/4 of the season last year and they survived. You're probably right on the fit, though. But I think for the Jazz it will be like the difference between pick #27 and pick #24. Not all that significant.

That's a curious trade for the Wolves to say the least.

Naz Reid become a starter is a simple obvious and natural way to replace KAT that was always there

But I doubt Randle would accept revert back to the 6th man role he actually would be a great player instead of the starter Jordan Clarkson center. And honestly, I don't think Naz Reid should have reasons to accept being on the bench for Randle. KAT not only is a much better player, but also a top 3 player in Wolves history

Do they try to trade Randle for any return ?

Don't see Randle being there long term he has a player option for 25-26

Man, I forgot the player option, that contract is even worse considering the risk of another year

But I think the natural move for the Wolves is taking anything from a desperate franchise such as the Warriors, Suns, Lakers, Clippers for Randle. Something like a Hachimura, Gabe Vincent and a 2nd.

Wonder what KAT thinks being under Thibs, a historically bad relationship during their first stint but I'm sure they've both grown since then

Most-likely, the Wolves regular-season record would be unaffected: Di Vincenzo, Randle and more Nazr Reed are pretty equal to Towns. It does lower their playoff potential but it has no bearing on their picks. Long-term it can go either way: on one hand, Towns is a big who could age poorly, on the other hand the situation with Randle could turn south quick.

Based on his reaction KAT had no idea that this was going on.

I'm very interested to see Ant commenting on this. He isnt shy in voicing his opinion so we should get some juicy quotes.

Also adding some fun factor to the discussion.

Is this the cringiest trade in NBA history?

KAT and Randle are both pretty painful to watch at times. With KAT its more about his body language (Knick fans gonna love that lol) and with Randle its more about him going into bullet time when he gets the ball.

I think you can make the argument that Minnesota may have gotten a bit better with this deal, but I guess my valuation of KAT and Randle must have been off.

I think Randle has gotten really underrated and has improved the last few seasons to where his reputation is.

Tim Connelly is a pretty elite GM. I think it's going to work

I really don’t get this at all. Other than the Knicks getting off Randle
I think KAT compliments their roster pretty well from a positional, size, and scoring standpoint. Much will depend on how they view him along side Robinson. I think Minnesota may have gotten a bit better, depending on Randle's health and if they can re-sign him. Otherwise, this might have been basically a salary dump.
