Agreed a high pick and roll with Devin can be a disaster when the trap, but IMO the biggest difference is with a screen-roll you're moving, putting the pressure on the defense to defend you - you're forcing them to not only stop ball but to guard the entire court - particularly the weakside, and tonight they were late stepping out on Harris and Devin was able to get a step on Isiah and get in the lane (3rd-qtr back-to-back plays where he set Big Al up for an open 15-footer and then drove the lane and spoon-fed him for a dunk). If you throw it to Big Al then stand, the defense can dig in and focus on stopping 1 marginally effective player in a 5-foot radius who isn't a threat to pass out instead of keeping the ball in the middle of the court and forcing Sacrament to guard all 5 players in a 23'x50' area.
