Jazz Game Rumor, @ Sac 8PM Mtn.

A pick n roll is still only marginally better.
Best scenario is that Al shoots a free throw jumper.
Likely scenario is they sag off Al and give Devin the shot. Devin is incredibly terrible in crunch time.

But yeah I agree that late game baskets should not be one on ones when you don't have a star.
Agreed a high pick and roll with Devin can be a disaster when the trap, but IMO the biggest difference is with a screen-roll you're moving, putting the pressure on the defense to defend you - you're forcing them to not only stop ball but to guard the entire court - particularly the weakside, and tonight they were late stepping out on Harris and Devin was able to get a step on Isiah and get in the lane (3rd-qtr back-to-back plays where he set Big Al up for an open 15-footer and then drove the lane and spoon-fed him for a dunk). If you throw it to Big Al then stand, the defense can dig in and focus on stopping 1 marginally effective player in a 5-foot radius who isn't a threat to pass out instead of keeping the ball in the middle of the court and forcing Sacrament to guard all 5 players in a 23'x50' area.

Actually, you're right.
The pick n roll is way and away the best play to call....I forgot that Demarcus Cousins is a bad pick n roll defender.
Dam you Corbin!!

I was disappointed that we had Big Al on Salmons the play before that and we let Salmons jump in front of the pass and poke the ball away.

I find it absolutely stunning a team of professional basketball players can go 10/21 from the line. Yikes.

WEll, I guess you can loosely call what Utah has a team. Only Charlotte has a worse record over their last 10 games. But cheer up, Jazz fans; we might have a chance to improve to 3-7 over the next 10.

I agree with you, but
The problem is there's no go to player. Al is the only one who can legitamitly go one on one and he sucked today. Who else do you draw a play for? Howard? He got a charging call late too. Sap? Oh no.
A pick n roll would've been the best play though.

this is exactly correct! it seems sometimes like people hate on al just because there's no better option on this team.

On TV I know I heard someone in back ground say check on Millsap (after a time out in the last few minutes) and then Favors comes in for him so he must have gotten dinged up and as much as I've enjoyed Millsap's play in the past, he was absolutely awful last night. When the best thing you can say about his play/time on the court is he was invisible that is very sad for him.
Again it's like he gets frustrated with some calls and just makes some stupid decisions to make it worse and then shuts down, the charge in the 1st Qtr was the beginning of the end. Did anybody see when he came back in the 4th a offensive rebound literally dropped in his lap and he somehow manages to not get his hands on it and then his man beats him down the court for a dunk while he's pouting.

Starters - 141 combined minutes. 5 combined free throws.
That's nice stat and all but I'll counter it with 11-22 FT shooting and say if they went would they have made them anyway?

Also meant to add on previous post I was happy that Millsap got taken out (if he's hurt not happy about that) and thought he didn't deserve to play as many minutes as he had.
After looking at the box score this morning it appears my emotions during the game skewed my vision, Millsap only played 24min. Favors had 25min Kanter had 17 and Burks had almost 20min so Ty did play the young'ns more minutes then I realized.
