Yes. The previous response may not have been clear to you if you're not already familiar with the topic, Harcher (not that I am familiar, actually, but...). Chicago can give more (and hence Boozer can get more) to a player acquired by trade than to one acquired through free agency alone. Years aside, I think they can give him 10% annual raises in the future, instead of just 8% raises.

This is probably true on some level regardless, but if Booze gets the 10%'s or 6th year, that won't be coming as a happy surprise to him. It will have been negotiated in advance. The Bulls knew he had leverage. So I'm guessing they made it clear they would be trying to juice the salary in some way. If Boozer gets no bump whatsoever, then the Bulls are just being really nice or following some unwritten karma protocol.
 
It seems more likely that we use the exception to take on an expensive player we don't want in the last year of their contract. As incentive, the trading team offers either a young player or draft picks. Basically, what the Thunder did to us to obtain Maynor. Teams don't usually give away players they value highly (M. Gasol, Granger, Gortat) just to save money. We should be looking to take on players with big contracts that teams don't value (Brand), and look to steal a draft pick or young player for taking on the salary.
 
Tyson Chandler's injury history scares me, but he gives this team length, a defensive and rebounding presence, and he's not a problem off the court. An expensive one year rental (possibly), but intriguing...
 
If Cleveland loses the LBJ sweepstakes and start looking to dump salary, would you guys like a player such as Jamison? Good 6th man right there...

this does seem like the most likely scenario, except it won't be Brand. it'll be a player that is expiring next summer.

Sad thing is I and other's wanted the Jazz to trade Boozer for Bogut 2 years ago. Last year the Bucks would not have done it. Now there is no way in hell your getting him for nothing.
 
-Props to KOC. I hope the player the Jazz will add to their roster (if FO is determined to use TPE) will address some of our main weaknesses and will not create another basic problem. Like FT shooting? Okafur.. You get the idea. We have to deepen PG and Center/PF positions, firstly. The Jazz desperately need a reliable backup PG and a veteran bigman.

KOC made a shrewd move here. With that said, let's not forget what this really means as of right now: not only did we lose Booz, we also lost 2nd rounder. Not that 2nd rounders have much value, bit hey, thanks to the second rounder we had a few years back, we still have a decent starting PF now. Our starting and back-up centers are second rounder too. Hell, wasn't Booz himself second rounder also? So, before we begin tea bagging KOC, let's see what he does with the exception. Decent move to give up second rounder with a chance to use up the trade exception, but the whole point here is to use that exception and use it well. Otherwise we are just down a Booz and a second rounder now. I can't wait to see Jazz FO make up the ground.
