What's new

Jazz have been extremely aggressive in FA, re-sign Ricky Rubio and pick up Derrick Favors option

The problem is that when we get to free agency, we'll have had a strong close to the season, Ricky will be more consistent, we'll win a couple games in the second round, and most people will be comfortable with staying the course.

Lmao y'all that mad DL isn't a caving baby?

DL has BDE, trust in him.
I think it’s more about the total context. If last summer when we resigned everyone we said we’d stand pat at the deadline, everyone would have said that’d be insane and that DL was propping is up for maximum flexibility that he can cash in. Well, yeah, we got there and the landscape wasn’t as prime as we thought (?), yet we’ll make claims about this summer, or whenever, and when we finally get there the landscape will obviously look different than what it looks like today, and we’ll start talking about the deadline, how DL has a plan.

When DL fails to improve the team in a given year I'll complain. He made the Korver deal this year. I know that's not the huge deal we want, but its something.

And again, your boy Mitotic is even more signable now. You should be relatively optimistic.

People like @LoPo should be stoked. He's always talking about how he wants big risky moves. The Jazz playing free agency is that.

Might the Jazz fail? Sure, but that's part of the risk you ask for.

I actually believe standing pat was the right thing to do. I don't know how Mike Conley got so overrated, but he did, and many of you got caught up in the nonsense that he was going to be some kind of savior. We could have gotten a 3 month rental on Mirotic, but at what price? Isn't he an unrestricted FA this offseason anyways? Lowry was a bunch of BS from the start, that was never going to happen. I would have liked to see Rubio get moved for something, but maybe other teams can see how much he sucks and didn't want to give up any valuable assets for him? Anyways, I actually think 2019 FA is going to be fun and we'll make some big moves. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm not thrilled The Jazz couldn't get a deal done; but when you look at the landscape of all the deals made that were worthwhile, The Jazz probably didn't have the assets to be competitive.

As for Conley - as I said in the trade thread, F' him. If he doesn't want to come to Utah then good riddance. I hope DL pulled the plug on it before Memphis had the opportunity to ask for more.

I hope so. I'd be okay with that. I feel a first round exit is more likely.
