What's new

Jazz have "zeroed in" on Jabari Parker

I'd rather trade kanter too. We know that's coming anyway. It just depends on how quickly Gobert develops.

I don't want to part with Burks. Get rid of haywuss (if we could). But not burks. Get rid of Burks and you'll see him average 18+ pts all next year.

What would you be willing to give up for James harden? How about Damian lillard? Parker is going to be at least as good as those guys. Think of it that way, and hopefully you will see why giving up burks and some picks is worth it to get a sure fire all star.

This.

There's a decent chance that someone drafted after Parker will be better than him. I'd really like Parker, but it's important to remember that #2 and #3 in 2008 (an exceptionally strong draft) were Michael Beasley and OJ Mayo. In 2003 (the first or second best draft since '84), Darko went #2 and Dwyane Wade went #5.

What do you guys think a Sixers or Bucks fan would think of the trade? Would they see how awesome we think Burks will be as a great consultation? What about an indifferent fan of another team: do you think they'd rather have the #5, GS pick and Burks than Jabari? We're Burks delusional. That's fine. Just recognize that after we get Jabari we'll have enough time to get Jabari delusional too and start deeming him the next Jordan.

There's no question Exum and Gordon both have the potential to surpass Parker.

But as it stands (and as fans) we just don't have enough information about Exum's development and Gordon's reportedly 'improved' shooting to make an educated decision about whether or not they can be better than Parker.

I think we do know a little bit about Sam Hinkie's style. He drafted Noel and MCW last year and got rid of Drew Holliday. This tells me he's looking for young & athletic type players who has huge potential.

To me guys like Exum/Gordon and to a certain extent Alec Burks seem to fit the bill perfectly.

To reiterate from another thread: Burks is simply the most impactful and consistent player on the team at the moment. If other teams don't value him that much, great, I'd rather include someone else anyway.

What I'm getting at is that we're all here thinking Burks is way too much to give up and anyone with a little less bias would see how clueless we are. Had we not drafted Burks, nobody would feel this way about him. People will have just as much opportunity to get delusional about Jabari too. All it would take is a bunch of people repeating the same garbage and we could believe he's the next DPOY. It's coming. I mean, Aaron Gordon is already a 17 ppg guy shooting 75% from the line.

Your post would make sense if we were talking about giving up just Burks. The package being discussed is #5, Burks, GSW 17, etc. That is a crazy amount to give up for a player who still has a lot of question marks surrounding his game (passing, defense, pace of play, shot selection, weight, position, etc.)

Especially when an equally good, or better player could be available at 5.
