Jazz Just Signed Trevor Booker According To Woj

Hence why I said they wouldn't want to play in Utah, LA is a very attractive place to play. Stop being a retard.

You implied they wouldn't want to play because utah isn't a contender. As far as your comment that Davis wouldn't sign for something similar in Utah, Davis never said any such thing. Stop making stuff up.

Davis was willing to take less so because he will get tons of playing time on the Lakers.

Booker will probably be maxed out around 15-20 minutes since he will be competing with Kanter, Favors, Gobert, Novak and Evans.

Ed Davis could possibly get closet to 30 minutes again with only Randle and Jordan Hill to compete with minutes with.

Really? Did he say that?

No its just obvious from his contract. 2nd year is a player option. He is hoping to have a break out year since he will finally have a chance at getting minutes as there isn't much competition compared to other teams.

He will do what OJ Mayo did with the Mavericks. He was offered more money from other teams but instead signed with the Mavericks for less. 2nd year was a player option. He opted out and got paid. And became fat and lazy after lol

Perhaps this comparison has been discussed, but Ed Davis 2 years $2 M v. Trevor Booker 2 years $10M.

Booker, 6'8" PF age 26 - career average of 6 and 5, 2013-14 PER 15.02
Davis 6'10" PF age 25 - career average of 7 and 6, 2013-14 PER 15.99

They are basically the same player with Davis being bigger and one year younger, but the Jazz are paying Booker 5 times as much as the Lakers are paying Davis.

Yikes.

But how do they compare defensively? How do they compare as passers? I'm really asking.

Players that are looking increasingly fringe and who haven't yet gotten their payday out of the draft are looking for their payday after the draft. I have a very tough time believing that Kent Bazemore or Ed Davis (as different paths to the league as they may be in relation to each other) are in a position or a place in their careers to pass on significantly more money.

Now, I'm not saying anything as to my preference for Booker or Davis. Just that I think we can see plenty of Jazz initiative here. They just have to like Booker, particularly.

Well, they play the same position, but Davis is bigger. That helps, but I'd say they are pretty even defensively. Not sure about passing, but assist stats are pretty close.

Not sure if this was posted, I couldnt find it.

Makes this signing much better.
Yes it does. Makes it easy to trade him too. A team could take him on with the option to keep him or save the cap space. I feel much better about this move now that the details are out. Also don't think it keeps them from trying to buy out or sign Tomic this year or next if they decide to pursue that route.

Complete faith has been restored in DL. This contract is a great asset in the offseason now. We can either use it in a trade to match salaries and the acquirer can waive him for space or we can get our flexibility back if needed by waiving him. If he plays out of his mind (not likely, but you never know) then we can hold on to him cheap.

I'm starting a slow clap for DL... join me if you'd like.

Good deal for us, but good for Booker too. 5 Mil is nothing to sneeze at and if he plays well he can parlay that into another similar contract.
