What's new

Jazz looking for a backup center....

Diaw, Speights, Olynyk (I don't like)..

PF's like Patrick Patterson, Mike Scott, Scola, Frye, Cunningham, Tolliver, Jerebko...

Or... Pleiss!

Is Nene still available? He is not a shooter but he can pass and has high IQ. Great fit in this team.

Pleiss shows up and tells DL... "I don't know if you were aware, but I hit 31% from three in the D-League."

He actually showed a nice jumper from around the foul line. Here's highlights to his D-League games: https://dleague.nba.com/player/tibor-pleiss/

I watched the Spurs highlights where he hits a few.

I don't know why you can't play Pleiss or Whitey for 8-10 minutes as a backup especially Pleiss since you thought enough about him to give him a 3 million dollar/yr contract. He has some nice low post moves and has a nice jumpshot. Lyles is going to be the second team outside shooter.

After watching his highlights, there is some skills there. I know it is the D-league but we are talking about give gobert 10-12 minutes of rest. I am fine with letting Pleiss or Whithey battle it out for backup center.

Yes, they were last summers big FA signings, let them play.

Summer league is very important for Tibor this year.

Hang with me here... Why not go get Terrence jones and use him as backup center? Not many backups scare me and I think he'd cause matchup problems playing alongside our bench group. Not a great shooter but with space might be good and may be able to give something. Also helps us if we have a favs or lyles injury.

Another option would be Brandon bass... I think withey fine if we need a traditional center and favs can play some non Gobert minutes. Jones or bass could probably play with any of our other bigs.

Meyers and Withey? Jazz will definitely have the market cornered on 7 foot pretty boys.

If they can somehow bring back Fes they'd have the makings of the most unique boy band in music history.

Man, Meyers Leonard - what a bizarre shooting trajectory. Plays two years at Illinois, 7'1", strong, athlete prospect - problem? can't shoot. He shot 12 threes in two years there making 1.

Rookie year shoots 7 threes all year. 2nd year goes 0-6 all year. So, 4 years of basketball 185 games, dude is 4-25 from 3pt range.

Third year in the NBA, shoots 112 threes, making 42%! last year takes 228 threes making 38%. unreal. i imagine there is nothing like it in NBA history.

All true - but the problem is the guy is soft, soft, soft.

Pau Gasol? Seems like the best fit to me. Sounds like his top options are San Antonio, Portland and Minnesota. I honestly think the Jazz would be just as good (if not better) of a fit for him. I can understand the interest in San Antonio, but the Jazz can offer him more money for essentially the same role (if Duncan comes back.)
I heard that other day that duncan has said he will play next season

Wow. That's crazy.
I would love the jazz to get him
