Jazz may start Okur at 5, Jefferson at 4 and Millsap at 3

A year and a half ago Corbin told David Locke that CJ Miles is poised to one day be a "bonafide scorer in the NBA."

Regardless who starts, Okur won't see major minutes. He'll have to play more D and rebound under the watchful eye of Coach Ty...

Scorer maybe. If he gets 25-30 shots per game, hits his customary 40% so that equates to 12/30, shoots 6 3's per game, and hits his customary 30%, so that equates to 2/6, and let's say gets 10 foul shots per game shooting that much and hits 8 of them, that adds up to 28-34 ppg, and about a 22-60 regular season record for whatever team that happens on.

No thanks.

Okur would be a good kick out target if big Al is a willing passer. At the same time I'm not really keen on Favors only getting 20 minutes or soto make room for Okur.

Jefferson/Millsap will get playing time at the beginning of the season. I believe this will be direction from KOC. They will be more valuable for trading chips come mid season vs. developing the youngsters.

Hate to say it but this is and will be the plan that we will all see.

Heard it first here.. or at Best Buy

The probability that KOC tells Corbin who to play is slightly higher than the probability that KOC told Sloan who to play.

I still like this depth chart:

PG: Devin Harris, Earl Watson, Jamaal Tinsley
SG: Gordon Hayward, C.J. Miles, Alec Burks
SF: Paul Millsap, Jeremy Evans, Alec Burks
PF: Derrick Favors, Mehmet Okur, Jeremy Evans
C: Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter, Mehmet Okur

The starters of Harris, Hayward, Millsap, Favors, and Jefferson would give us our best defensive starting five while we would still have a lot of offensive punch. Game manager in Watson, two scorers in Okur and Miles, and a potential dominating center in Kanter off the bench would give us one of the deepest teams in the league.

PG: Harris, Watson, Tinsley
SG: Miles, Burks, Bell
SF: Hayward, Millsap
PF: Millsap, Favors, Kanter
C: Jefferson, Okur, Kanter

I doubt Favors is going to be able to outplay Millsap this year. Same for Kanter on Okur.

You totally left out Jeremy Evans in your depth chart. Where would he be in yours? I think that he definitely will get serious minutes at the back up SF and PF positions. He has the potential to be a defensive machine while possessing ridiculous athleticism.

Okur starting MIGHT make sense. Generally, when a guy is coming off an injury, it's best to play him when he's warmed up. So start him in the 1st and 3rd, play him about 7-8 mins each time and have him sit the remainder. However, Memo may not play in back-to-backs initially, so it may be better to find a lineup that will start every night.

I'm betting on Jefferson, Millsap, Hayward, Bell and Harris as starters. Don't negative rep me, because I'm not saying I like it; I just think Corbin will be vet friendly, just like Sloan was. Bell starting and coming out mid-1st and 3rd would give the Jazz four scorers and Raja could just sit out at 3-pt range like he normally does.

My predictions:
PF/C: Jefferson 32; Favors 30; Okur/Kanter 15; Millsap 19. Kanter will play in about half the games, primarily if/when Memo rests on the second night of back-to-backs.
SF: Hayward 30, CJ 8, Millsap 10.
SG: Bell 16, CJ 16, Burks 16.
PG: Harris 32; Watson 16.

Yes, I left out guys like Tinsley and Evans. They'll get mins, but primarily in garbage time or due to injuries.

What I'd like to see happen is Burks, Kanter and Favors play so well that KOC has to make some moves at the deadline. Deal CJ and Bell to teams needing wing depth. Trade Jefferson for a SF or PG + picks.
