What's new

jazz mentioned as possible trade partner for ak

AK was injury plagued when he was on the Jazz now he's 45 and were discussing bringing him back. This team has flaws I don't think bringing over an avid novel reader will fix our defensive issues or offensive issues.

Stretch 4's today tend to smaller, more mobile players that the AK of old would've been able to handle. Don't know how he'd fare now; not sure if he still has anything left.

With the Sixers in the discussion, how can we make a 3 way trade for AK and KJ McDaniels?

AK is better (if/when healthy) than Ingles. Sorry people who love Ingles.

WAS better. Look at his outside shooting the past 5 years. With the exception of '10/'11, his 3PT percentage has been mediocre. What would he bring to the team: he hasn't been able to defend a cardboard cutout for years. His blocking abilities left him about 8 years ago as injuries and then age took away a step or two. So he's brought in to show the rookies his great attitude and amazing work ethic?

I have an idea: he becomes Utah's RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) advocate and ambassador to the U.S. Consulate in San Francisco. With the rising number of international players, Jazz could use a representative to help them with any visa problems. Maybe he can even help players avoid taking practice days off during any future playoffs in order to arrange their vacations.

Jazz might get ak back

Jeremy Evans and toure mentioned as pieces leaving.

The Jazz could monetize very low value assets (JE and TM) for future assets (2nd round pick) and cash (say $1MM). Nets then waive TM, use JE as a 12th man & save a few million in luxury tax.

This could happen unless the Nets find a suitor who actually would value AK at this point in his career.

PS: This is the value of signing players like TM to unguaranteed contracts. Trade them to teams over the cap, who waive them. Both teams make out financially, Jazz add assets. Pretty slick.

Except Ak took a big pay cut to play in Brooklyn. He doesn't make enough for Brooklyn to have to give up assets to dump him. He's making 3.3 million, and at that price, there will be no problem finding someone to take him off Brooklyn's hands.

Yes, contenders are lining up to sign a guy who is coming off a year in which he shot 20% on his 3's and 50% on FT's. Why is Philly rumored to be a possible trading partner? Are they going to give up assets to get a 33 yr old who can't crack the rotation in Brooklyn? AK is NOT an asset for Philly. They'd want a draft pick included. The reason to deal with Utah is that we have non-guaranteed deals which would result in luxury tax savings for Brooklyn. Not sure if Philly has the same with players they wouldn't mind trading.

Because they have a ton of cap space combined with a lot of cheap partially guaranteed salaries that they are probably willing to part with for a mere 2nd round pick.

Exactly. The point I was trying to make with freakazoid is that AK is not valued as a player. There aren't teams lining up to make a deal with Brooklyn. Freakazoid said "He doesn't make enough for Brooklyn to have to give up assets to dump him." But if the Nets are talking to Philly a pick HAS to be going along with AK. There's no other reason for Philly wanting AK.

You are wrong, as usual.

Ak is so worthless, this happened:
After the 2012-13 season, Kirilenko declined a one-year $10 million option on his contract with the Timberwolves to enter free agency. He then signed a two-year, $6.4 million deal with the Nets that raised eyebrows around the league.

Owners ultimately called for an investigation into the signing, fearing some sort of under-the-table deal between two people familiar with each other from Russia (Kirilenko played for CSKA Moscow when Prokhorov owned the team in the late 90s).

Admittedly, AK has not played his best basketball as of lately, but it's a long way from what the RE-PEAT-TARDS would have you believe.

I maintain at 3.3 million, Ak will have absolutely no problem finding a home. Honestly, I don't really think he belongs in Utah, but I would love to see that happen, if only to make the haters suck it. Ideally, I'd love to see him traded and cut, only to be signed by the Spurs.

First of all, No!!!! Secondly, is this the only deal that Jazz are touching on?? Our office is clearly ok with being a losing team. They have no hope for the future at becoming a "champ contending team".
Someone is going to say something about Malone and Stockton now,, I know how it goes. Malone and Stock liked Utah blah blah blah, No one now days wants to play for Utah blah blah blah.
Of course not! Not with a front office that doesn't know how to compete or build a winning team. Not with an owner like Greg Miller who is content with missing the playoffs. Maybe elite players would consider Utah if we had and owner and management that held the same values as the front office that we had in the past. When we took what we were given and found a way to work within the budget and parameters to build a winning team. Greg needs to sell the Jazz to someone that cares about being the best and wont settle for anything less.

He's an early 1981 born player, isn't it a bit too old even for a veteran player?

I am just curious Cupcake aka (freakazoid), do you like basketball or do you only watch in anticipation for others to fail so you have something to complain about?? You must have been the kid that had girls picked in front of him at dodgeball.
