Jazz Offseason Plan

Ingles being traded is interesting. Expiring contracts are definitely enticing to other teams.

Ingles has value to us beyond being an expiring... not sure he does to other teams. It would be truly one of the dumbest things to trade him. He’s been an iron man and this next year is his swan song. He’s one of the more flexible pieces. I can’t even think of a rational move that makes sense for us, him, and an acquiring team.

Tony’s post said the DEFENSE targeted him. As in, they were game-planning specifically to stop him, and couldn’t.
Unstoppable!

I don't think you read that right. Other teams were throwing the kitchen sink at them to defense Bryce Cotton and him. Cotton was MVP of the league.
Cotton was only MVP because he took what the defense gave him, and when the defense is quintuple-teaming Mooney, you get to score a lot.

That’s fine, but if we are doing a sign and trade and some team wanted him instead of Clarkson or something is he a deal breaker?

At this point Jazz should consider trading anyone not named Donovan Mitchell
The point guard who is the leading scorer in the Israel pro league looks interesting. A Canadian-Nigerian who played his college ball in Canada. Eric Griffin appears in the leaders in ppg so that league is not terrible.

This is pretty much where I'm at. I'm probably blinded by how much I like his personality, but I think he's probably one of if not the most important leaders in the locker room-that's really important. He did lose a step, can't remember who said he hasn't-he was notably slower in the Clippers series-but he can still play.

Thing is, who exactly are we getting to replace him? Same issue with Royce and Clarkson. That's another big reason I'm on the trade Bogie bandwagon - his skill set is more or less redundant. Ingles, Royce, Clarkson, etc. are not.

Yep, we don’t have one player that does everything Bogey does. But I think we can replace him pretty easily by committee. He’s a luxury for us and has trade value. I think he gone!

The one exception is his ability to bang a little down low. Maybe Mooney is to address that in limited minutes?

Quin and the rest of the FO will like Mooney’s ability to screen with intention I think. He knows why he’s doing it and how to do it and would fit in with our offense.

FWIW…
