Jazz Offseason Plan

I just don't know the step that takes him from where he is to something better. I think he just is what he is. I doubt he has a big jump in shooting or becomes a plus defender at this point. I'm not even sure he can maintain his prior year performance in those areas. It wouldn't be crazy for him to improve but it wouldn't be likely imo.

JC adjusted his shot profile to make him an efficient volume scorer. I don't know if Kuz has that low hanging fruit.
It could be something as simple as not wanting to play under Lebron and an org that acquiesces to his every desire. Him and DM are tight.

A little discussion on Favors to the Hornets making sense:

"Before getting into the juicy, fantasy trade the Hornets could pull off, it’s important to acknowledge the more realistic trade. According to Fischer, the Utah Jazz are looking to attach pick #30 to Derrick Favors in order to get off of his salary. Favors is under contract for one more season, with a player option the year after that. His contract is worth around $10 million both years.

It’s no secret that the Charlotte Hornets need centers. While Favors likely shouldn’t be their starter, he would be a fine backup for the hornets. Last season, he averaged 5.4 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 63.8% from the field. However, he only played 15.3 minutes per game.

Realistically, Favors just didn’t fit what the Jazz were trying to do last year. Rudy Gobert was an exception since he was the Defensive Player of the Year, but Utah’s goal was to shoot as many threes as possible. That’s not Favors’ game. A change of scenery could help propel him back into being the quality center that he once was.

Since the Jazz are simply looking to dump salary, the Hornets could realistically only trade a second young pick in exchange for Favors and #30. This would also allow them to add another promising rookie from this year’s draft class. Some outlets have players such as Day’Ron Sharpe, JT Thor, and Josh Christopher falling that far."

Hopefully we could swipe McDaniels from them if it is a straight dump because their seconds this year are 56/57. We would get a trade exception at least... not that we'd use it.

These are the type of deals I see as realistic unfortunately.

TPE could be very useful. We could retain Niang or hold onto it and use it for a free agent or a deal at the trade deadline.

Yep.

Favors and #30
for
#56 and #57

Doesn't seem exciting, but I could see it being done. Financially makes a lot of sense for us, but what a terrible message to start out the offseason.

JZ needs to sneak McDaniels in that deal... would provide a backend rotation piece that might be ready to take a small step forward.

If you trading Favors and 30 to Charlotte you are asking for future 2nd's, not those garbage picks.

*Just looked, Charlotte has traded their 2nd round pick for the next 4 drafts*

Lakers reportedly offered Kuzma to the Jazz, and the Jazz declined.

Unpopular opinion coming... if Lakers wanted JC and were willing to give Kuzma and #22 I'd consider it if I had a good deal lined up for Bogey.

While it sucks to lose Favor, Favors is time use limited and Charlotte would want him in the back up in that role. We can't win every trade though but yeah it frees us up alot.

Might take one of those and a future second. Saves us from buying one... or you could buy another that is higher up.
