Jazz Preparing Conley Offer in Range of 75/3

Other than not sign him and let the new draft picks have some burn or see what we can get at the vet min and use the money we are drastically overpaying Conley to actually address the issues we have known about for, oh, 4 years now.

Conleys money can only go to Conley. We're capped out even without him.

Sure I wish we'd done other things several seasons back, but at this point it's Conley vs a vet min or exception guy. I'll take Conley.

The Jazz gave these concessions already: Gave him the deal a year before he was a RFA, gave him the easiest clause to get to the super-max money, gave him a trade kicker. The Jazz gave him all those things, and that's why teams get to say, and have always said. NO PLAYER OPTION, because we already gave you all those other things. There was NO chance. NONE that he wouldn't have eventually signed the contract without the PO, and it is one of the worst blunders in franchise history that they just gave it to him. It absolutely has to do with being nice and not ruffling his emotional feathers. Lindsey got blamed for the Hayward hardball and then over-corrected by using no leverage at all on this one. Lockes even mentioned it on his podcast, that the Jazz have gotten blowback for giving Donovan whatever he wanted in that contract, and they got blowback when they handled Haywards the way they did. The problem? Its going to end the exact same way and all you gained was one less year of contract for your star player to zero benefit.
You act like Mitchell said "well we didn't care about a player option, but sure why not?" I guarantee you Mitchell's camp had that as a requirement.

Conley could be sign and traded though.

I don't think we get a player better than Conley doing that, but I think we could still get value.

Lol. EVERY player camp wants a player option. In the restricted free agency situations it’s the teams job to use their leverage and say NO.

The Jazz need to go for it this year and have a fire sale and major roster turnover next summer. Trade Mike, trade Bogey(if you don’t this year), trade JC, explore trading Rudy, and that’s also why it’s important to try and trade Joe for a defensive wing right now or before the deadline if you’re able to. It’s time to start getting some value and assets back. The majority of this core has this year. After that, changes are coming.

And if the players camp says player option or no deal? You have a very naive view of these kinds of negotiations.

Knowing when to trade players is an art. We suck at it. We waited too long on....

Big Al
AK
Favors
Boozer
Okur
Deron
Etc

Conley is coming off his only All Star
Bojan was 100% healthy and impactful
Rudy is dominant
JC is the 6th man

Outside of Rudy, who expects the other 3 things to stay at this level? Waiting a year could be catastrophic.

Bojan gets hurt or regresses
JC comes down to earth
Rudy gets hurt or further exposed
Conley stays hurt or regresses

I don't think you trade them all, but you have to capitalize on selling high. We can't afford to sell anybody low anymore

Really glad they are bringing him back. Of the course contract sucks. We all knew it would suck. But conley was pretty awesome last year and stepped it up even more in the playoffs (before the injury). He was easily our best shooter in the playoffs. And best at creating looks for teammates. We will need that if we want to win a chip. Gotta keep him healthy.

Has he ever played a full season?
He has 7 seasons of over 70 games played (plus a season when he played 69 games) so yes. Even had a season when he played 82 games. (also played 80 games twice and 81 games once)

People need to stop saying if he can stay healthy. He CANNOT stay healthy. He has been hurt both seasons we have had him. Has he ever played a full season? Some people going to hope his hamstring issues are over. Come on. People say this is the market. Perhaps but the market is what someone is willing to pay. When do franchises say yea we like you but not at that price. I like CP3 but there is no way I would sign him for 100 million dollars at his age.
Last 6 seasons games played

Doesn't bode well.
