Jazz Preparing Conley Offer in Range of 75/3

First of all, don't play hard ball with a franchise player. If he didn't sign the extension, he's signing a 2+1 in the summer.

If you fight your own player and let him hit restricted FA, that deal is not going to be favorable. Hayward is not a Jazz player because the Jazz blundered a similar situation.
The other part to this is we will have an opportunity to negotiate another deal with him. Even if he wants out in a couple years it may be beneficial for him to sign that extension... having a good relationship maybe buys you another year before he asks out and nets you a longer contract when you trade him. Digging in for an extra year would not be smart.

There is literally a reason no player until Donovan had got a PO. The teams are meant to be given the leverage. He would have signed the full max with all the other bells and whistles, it may have taken another week or two. Big deal. The Jazz blundered Mitchell’s contract by giving him the PO. In the end, it’ll end the same way. Stop pretending being nice is somehow a benefit. Lindsey did absolutely NOTHING right his last year here. NOTHING.

Ummm this was always going to be the case, only instead of 3 years left on the contract when you can offer the extension, there’s only 2 now.

Tony Jones said on the radio that he's hearing it will likely be a 2 year deal instead of 3. Hopefully he's right.

If you don't acknowledge the possibility of Mitchell signing a 2+1 offer sheet, your mind cannot be changed. In general, if you completely disregard the other side's leverage in a negotiation you may come away with the impression that you will receive everything you want.

Thank god someone maybe has come sense in the FO... This gives you a chance to pivot and get some value on an expiring in two years if the team fails again next year.

There needs to be a team option on his third year or else this could turn into Love or Blake 2.0 easily.

Tony seems fairly confident on two years. I trust him more than Stein.

If Conley signs for 2 years I wont hate it - I might even take back some of the bad **** I said about him. It's really the only way it makes sense for the Jazz.
