Jazz Preparing Conley Offer in Range of 75/3

lolz come on... we are headed in a better direction but there is a reason this is basically a done deal. We beat or matched the market... best case scenario the 3rd year is like 10M guaranteed. He has us over a barrel. Its fine.. our window is the next year or two... can tolerate a ****** deal for a year if he is washed.
Tony said Dallas and Chicago are who drove it from $20 to $25, basically insinuating Chicago (due to wanting to keep Lavine happy) is willing to offer Mike close to a full max contract.

I’m glad we have more backups with Teague and Butler. Conley is guaranteed to miss at least 30 percent of his games.
Teague was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract. The Jazz don't "have" him. They just want him to play for the Stars. But every team will have an equal shot at him once he's on the Stars.

In all likelihood Forrest is the deep backup option.

I've thought its 2 out of 3 years because Tony Jones has said they are paying the repeater tax next year multiple times. I didn't realize it was 3 out of 4.
Yeah I did too... We are fine. We may just want to reset the clock next year.

Chicago can't actually offer a max deal so it may have been as much as they could offer... Some of these teams will miss on their targets and a Mike overpay was likely going to happen. Lock him in... don't jerk him around and find a good solution for both parties is the smart move. Backend of the deal likely is no bueno but guys are playing longer nowadays.

Jazz have to pay market for Conley, or he can just go to New York or Dallas.

Jazz also think they have a 3-year window to contend with a core of Mitchell/Conley/Gobert. So I get the 3 years. They drafted Butler so they can load manage Conley. Butler should be their cost-controlled George Hill-type.

To do so they would have had to waive one or two of their non-guaranteed, Tony just mentioned they were looming and the main ones driving the price up. He didn't say the exact figure though.

I can't lie, Mike in Dallas with Luka, would make life on Luka a lot easier, and I think they'd gladly take him for $25 mill.

My thoughts are that we should give Conley a 2 year deal, Ingles extended one more year, then those two and Bogey expire at the same time so we can get out of the tax game before the repeater. I haven't looked at the logistics but I think it will be hard to duck the tax with Conley in the interim.

Terrible. I don't see this roster as a title contender, so I think this is an overpay, but if they think it's a contender then I guess it makes sense.

Depends on the rising cap. We are like maybe 5-6m away with Mike. If Butler looks solid you can likely move on from JC for some lower salary. You also might be moving on from Bogey for lower salary... its doable without gutting the roster.
