Jazz should trade for Brook Lopez

@ESPNSteinLine
The price on Brook Lopez has dropped, league sources say. Instead of two first-rounders, word is Brooklyn would accept a first and a second.

However, Warriors pick plus one of our seconds means he basically comes for free. Then it's whether you want to tie up cash flexibility for 2017 when you are trying to resign Hayward and Hill. Still, I say no.

Um... NOPE. They are both slow. I would play small ball on that team ALL DAY LONG! If you want to sit one or the other all game, then it works but Lopez would be a mighty expensive sub.

How much faster is Favors in his hobbled state than Lopez really though.. Their weight can't be much different either and obviously Brook has a larger frame..

I presume they'd want a decent 1st rd pick not one late 20's.. or 30..

Sure, they'd accept a 1st and 2nd. He's a decent player, but being paid way too much. I doubt any team with cap room will offer a 1st.

I would be all over this in most scenarios where you don't already have a player like Gobert. I just don't see how it works defensively. And offensively, I don't know.

It's feasible. Check out these trades where they burn future draft assets to add talent, flexibilty and stability.. They can extend Hill and push the salary really high(Cavs territory) for next season.

-Hayward + Ingles + 2nd rd pick for Paul George and CJ Miles
-Diaw + Iso Joe + Jazz 2017 1st rd pick +2nd rd for Harrison Barnes
-Favors + GSW 1st rd pick + 2nd rd pick for Brook Lopez
-Shelvin Mack + OKC 1st rd pick for Lou Williams (This trade according to the NBA trade machine means +10 wins for Utah and -13 wins for the Lakers)

PG - Hill - Williams - Exum - Burks/Neto
SG - Hood - Burks - Miles/Exum/George
SF - George - Barnes/Miles - Hood/Burks
PF - Barnes - Lopez/George - Lyles - 2nd rd pick (Cameron Oliver)
C - Gobert - Lopez - Bolomboy

Then you have a bunch of big expirings after next season - Lopez, George can opt out, Miles, Williams, Hood and Exum are restricted... Meaning they have a lot of major chips to sell at the deadline next year if they so choose..

What the.. dude I wouldn't do half of those trades and the other teams wouldn't do half of those trades.

well the mavs wouldn;t do the harrison barnes one maybe throw them the 1st rd pick that i had added to the Lopez trade.. I was being hopeful.

that roster is ideal to integrate lopez in with rudy tho..

that roster is a badass one too, they'd annihilate a team like Memphis in a series.... way better than the team the jazz will field next year.. (also much more expensive)
PG - Hill - Williams - Exum - Burks/Neto
SG - Hood - Burks - Miles/Exum/George - 2nd rd pick (Allonzo Trier)
SF - George - Barnes/Miles - Hood/Burks
PF - Barnes - Lopez/George - Lyles - 2nd rd pick (Cameron Oliver)
C - Gobert - Lopez - Bolomboy

That roster is one of the best 3'n'd setups in the league and it sets up a chance to be MAJOR sellers at next years deadline..

This thread is out of control. Then there's PGAB. He would have the jazz signing Barns to a max deal and then trade scraps for Lopez. I should hire PG as my financial guru and teach me about how not to worry about money.

See ya Hayward, and take a hike Hill, because Barns and Lopez will surely put us ahead of the GSW because they will help this team contend for a chip a million times better then Hayward and hill.

Idiot!

how many kg of crow has Hayward served you over the years, just give me a rough estimate
Y'all have a problem with my assertion that he's not irreplaceable, and no one is. I thought that before Hayward was in the league and will long after he retires, it's nothing personal, but you have an emotional response..

I'll have the last laugh. They're gonna overpay him and go for it and bring a water pistol to a gun fight and waste Rudy's prime years in the process.

I'm a Yankees fan. we hold our teams to the standard of the playoffs are a given and a team is only worthy of praise when they win the championship. Hayward is a goddamn nobody when held to those standards, do you not understand that?? helloooooooo...

He had one of the most pathetic playoff performances I can remember in the last series and it draws ire here when mentioned, it's the truth tho.. gonna pay this dude 30Mil so he can get locked down by Kahwi when it matters...

Hayward for Schroeder back in 2013 is when it came on full force. He was so adamant about it.

Has Schroder not surpassed all reasonable expectations in the time since? That alsoo means they wouldn't have taken Trey Burke so they could've gotten players like Giannis, Rudy Shabazz and Mason Plumlee??

They could've then signed Tobias Harris and then Harrison Barnes in the next few summers and the forward positions would be better this year and locked into reasonable deals for years... both of those players lead their respective teams in scoring and I suggested it at the time.

If we had signed those guys, how do we then re-sign Hayward and Co.?

Why are you talking to PGAB outside of the draft thread? This dude has 1 area of expertise: knowing the names of prospects before the general public. Other than that his basketball IQ is in the trashcan.
