Jazz to actively pursue Paul Millsap this offseason, per Spencer Checketts

Sap was one of my favorite Jazz players of all time. Still, this makes very little sense to me, and makes no sense if it means Favors going to the bench. It makes a little more if he agrees to go to the bench, and I probably wouldn't mind that too much as long as it doesn't screw with the chemistry.

All that being said I'd rather see DeMarre back.

If they are going to do this, why did they let him and Al walk a couple of years ago. Makes no sense to me.

If Russell is there at 4 and the Knicks were down to trade for Favors, I'd think long and hard about it. Especially if there's any creedence to Millsap returning.

I'm sure this has been mentioned at least somewhere past page 2, but Favors and Gobert desperately need a 4 who can spread the floor for them. Millsap is the perfect compliment while not sacrificing defense like picking up someone of David Lee's character.

Maybe, maybe not.

Favors: 426 shots from 5-16 feet.
5-9 ft: 32.5%
10-14: 42.2
15-19: 34.5

Millsap: 280 shots from 5-16 feet.
5-9 ft: 47.2%
10-14: 25.0
15-19: 37.9

From these I'd say Millsap is a much better player faking the midrange and then driving and converting between 5-9 feet if he doesn't have a layup.

So does anyone see this as a possibility?

Sure it's possible, just not very likely. Why? Because DL has repeatedly said that the Jazz "won't skip steps" and taking a one year rental on Millsap is a step leading nowhere.

Why would it be a one year rental? DL also said the Jazz were ahead of schedule and might look to accelerate the process, but team chemistry would be a huge consideration. So no , Jazz aren't trading for Stephenson. But if Paul wanted to return to the Jazz, I'm sure he's that exact type of veteran they'd welcome, albeit as a likely 6th man.

"The rumor that the Jazz will pursue Paul Millsap this summer is so intriguing. I've never loved Derrick Favors' game the way many people do...
...A starting lineup with Rodney Hood and Paul Millsap sounds so much more fun offensively than Alec Burks and Derrick Favors"

I read this guy's name as Ronald Mcdonald. I bet he gets that a lot.

So you think Paul is willing to sign a multi-year contract with the Jazz at terms that we could afford? And he would be willing to come off the bench? If that is so, then this would be huge ... and I would be shocked.

I'm sure Paul is at home right now dreaming of coming off the bench for Utah. He'd probably even give us a discount, just to fullfill that dream.

Yeah Spence, there is a better chance of Jim Boylen being the Jazz head coach than Milsap signing as a free agent. At this point I'd trust Best Buy guy over Spence Checkett's and his "breaking rumors."

They are saying he'd be the starting small forward... I really don't like that
