Jazz to actively pursue Paul Millsap this offseason, per Spencer Checketts

Did someone say it didn't make sense?

I did, but I was speaking from a contract/role stand-point. I've just never seen an all-star turn down more money and a guaranteed starting role on a 60 win team to come off the bench somewhere else.

Interesting.

I just don't see us benching Derrick Favors at this point. So would we be selling Millsap on a 6th man role?

I just don't see us being able to offer as much $$$ as other clubs and since Millsap has never really gotten a large contract, it would make sense for him to pursue the money.
Paul would definitely have to come off the bench. But why would Millsap do that? Only motivation would be his prior relationship with Quin and the opportunity to play with his brother. Jazz could free up a max slot (release Booker and even trade their pick for a future first). Just don't see it happening though. Besides, doesn't Millsap's agent have a bad relationship with the Jazz?

You can't comment on money and minutes, TWO OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTORS FOR MOST PLAYERS, but you feel perfectly comfortable commenting about him wanting to play with his brother, coach Quin, and his old team! My God.

He has publicly stated how important Quin was to his development. I feel very comfortable saying he likes Quin.

He is a very family first person. His uncle is his agent and he trains with his brothers in the off-season. I feel comfortable saying family is very important to Paul.

He has said he liked playing for Utah and had positive things to say about the team and organization. I feel comfortable saying he liked Utah when he was here (also probably likes they are paying his brother and giving him the chance of a lifetime).

I have nothing to go one about him hating coming off teh bench or wanting a max contact over everything. So you can take your ****ty post and go somewhere else.

The post I quoted to make that post.
He didn't say the jazz wanting millsap to come off the bench for a decent price didn't make sense.... I think almost every team would be looking into that

His agent is his uncle who I would assume is also Elijah's agent, so I would assume the relationship is pretty good.

A rumors plausibility doesn't prove validity

How does us being interested in Millsap make virtually no sense?

It makes a TON of sense:

1. We want more shooting, especially from a big.
2. Millsap has played here and liked it and fans like him
3. Our current coach has a very good relationship with him
4. We employ his brother on our basketball team (a move some theorized was a strategic move for Paul)
5. We have enough minutes for him (96 total front-court minutes among 3 players = 32 minutes)

The only way it doesn't make sense is when you factor in ego and money. I don't know Millsap so I can't comment on the importance he places on being a starter and getting a lot more mone.

Minutes, role, money and potential to contend are consistently the most important things that players take into account when choosing teams. The sentimental stuff(fans liking him, him liking Utah, having good relationship with Quin, his brother being here) is overrated, especially when he can say very similar things about his situation in Atlanta for example...

Given that, I'm not really sure how you can criticize someone for being skeptical of the latest Checketts rumor, especially when it makes virtually no sense.

Check's rumor = Jazz actively pursuing Millsap.

KD said rumor made virtually no sense.

And it also makes sense for him to look at going back to ATL.

Did I say he was going to Utah indefinitely? Just said the rumor makes sense.
