Jazz to Play in Mexico City December 15th

I see it being attached to a road game and I see it being a road game for the Jazz. I don't think the NBA would allow a mid-high playoff seed lose a home game, $$$.

Also, IIRC Orlando is about 400 miles closer to Mexico City as well.
Sure they would lmao. The NBA doesnt care about a team losing a home game. I'm sure there is some sort of worthwhile financial compensation for the teams.

Note to @Jason -- you should add Eric Woodyard to the Jazzfanz twitter feed if you haven't yet. Looks like he's the new Jazz beat writer from Deseret News.

edit: nevermind, looks like he's already there.

Looks like it'll be a roadie. I'm cool with that then.

Edit: Confirmed by Eric Woodyard.

That was their announcement lol? That’s funny, they just made their fan base mad. I saw a few fans from there mad they won’t get to see Donovan, and some from Mexico excited to watch Donovan. So nice to have such a worldwide superstar.

Bummer, I'm currently in Ecuador for work and moving to Mexico City around March/April. Haven't seen the Jazz in person in about 10 years. Couldn't watch them when I was living in Boston either. Can't wait to see them again.

I agree about shortening the schedule, but this cuts down on travel distance for the Jazz.

Mexico City is closer to SLC than Orlando. It's also pretty easy to attach this game to a road trip off of a Texas game. This is hardly a travel burden game.

Good point. I was thinking more of having the Jazz play in Australia or Europe. (Or China, but I wouldn't be as interested in them going there).
