What's new

Jazz trade Devin Harris to Atlanta for Marvin Williams (merged)

Harris vs Mo Williams
Harris is not a good defender anymore. He was actually bad last year. His 3 is below average and his slashing isn't what it used to be.
Williams is better at the 3 and almost the same on the other categories. I like it.

Marvin Williams
Way better than what we have. Better 3 point shooter and better defender. Longer and more athletic and he is not injury prone. He was also the 4th option on team that didn't pass much. We pass more and he will get more looks with the Jazz.

KOC did an amazing job

D-Will & Okur Traded for
Mo Williams, Marvin Williams, Kanter, Favors, Golden State Pick

Williams is a solid defender and has a good mid range jump shot. He is set to make $7.5 million next season and $8.2 the next, with the following year being a player option. At first glance I like the move. However, this may be the fact that we needed to free up some space. I think I like it.

It's the reverse. Williams gets 8.2 this upcoming season and 7.5 the next that he can opt out of.

Ya, so far so good. He is lucky though that he is able to pick up this stuff for so cheap.

It makes us better for sure, but we should cool our enthusiasm a little. His toughest decisions still lay before him. Ill give him a grade when he decides what to do with our front court. I still cringe at the idea we might be seeing a benched Favors ,a limited Kanter, and no Jeremy Evans. We will still have all sorts of issues with Al and his style. I cant watch another season of that.

How about this...

Now that Dwight to the Nets seems less likely. Lets send Al,Paul, and picks for Dwight. He might see the future here once he gets here.

I agree with this, except for the Dwight part.

If this trade actually happens, then I'd say KOC has done a pretty fine job so far in the offseason. But like Bluesy said, arguably the biggest problem still remains--the log jam down low. Let's hope KOC can pull another rabbit out of his hat.

Equal value, except we unload one point guard for a small forward.

Good, but still meh.

Although I don't care much for M.W., I'm going fanatical and calling bull **** as this trade is excellent on so many levels. Jazz have zero small forwards and zero point guards. Might as well fill one hole. I'm a huge fan of creating teams that mesh, even if it means getting slightly less value in a trade. O'Connor is giving us hints on what he's going to do with The Logjam.

Perimeter defense and shooting upgraded, essentially for Harris as the only price paid. Still have Jefferson and GS pick to play with. With Hibbert getting Max, Jefferson has some value, especially as an expiring. I wonder if The Utah-ATL trade phone call started with ATL looking at Al's expiring, and moved on to what we ended up with. I have to believe the Atlanta deal was discussed before we picked up Williams #1.

Respectfully disagree on the Meh.

Marvin gives the jazz an outside threat, can play the 3 or 4, and can rebound. I love the move.

Hayward can start at sf with Burks at sg, Marvin comes in for either of them. Hayward can move to the sg. Roster flexibility.

Kudos to KOC. I'm eating crow again.

Personally I think you're nuts if you think Burks is starting at the 2 and Williams is coming off the bench. Hayward will start at the 2 and Williams at the 3 imo.
