What's new

Jazz trade Devin Harris to Atlanta for Marvin Williams (merged)

That's only IF he opts in to it. Most players opt out of those kind of things, and him being the tall athletic player he is, he'll probably opt out of it.

No. He won't. Marvin Williams has virtually no chance whatsoever to be more than an MLE player when next year is over.

devin was no franchise savior, but he was better than people are giving him credit for, and we'll all understand that after a couple of months of watching mo trying to run the offense, but whatever.

obviously we needed one less PG and at least one more quality wing, so i'm not going to bitch too heavily about mo's style until the fall when there's actually a body of work to bitch about. i will say that marvin is better than a "fringe NBA starter" or whatever the hell somebody said -- fringe NBA starter is what 2012 josh howard was. marvin is 10 and 5 with above average defense for his position.

Unless he has some incredibly amazing breakout season, it would be very unwise to opt-out and something that his agent will be shying him away from hard. The fact is, he's young. The type of deal he could get next year would be the same type of deal he could get the next year, neither of which are going to be 7.5 million per year. In a nutshell, with his age there's no rush to be out of his current contract and into a new, long-term contract. I'm with Billy that the second year is more difficult to swallow. I just hope that next year we're not viewing it as an additional burden.

He was exactly ten and five, so he is obviously not out of his mind. Now that he'll get the ball passed to him, I think that the points will go up.

But what did he replace? Devin Harris relied almost entirely on his quickness on the dribble to get his points. He didn't have crafty moves, he relied on speed, and his speed is going down as he ages. Oh by the way, he couldn't do a consistent pick and roll to save his life, and the Jazz system relies heavily on the pick and roll. Now I'm not sure if Mo can do the pick and roll, but he has to be better than Devin was, and he can shoot. and he's tougher physically and mentally. All he lacks that Devin has is maybe the speed, but guess what, we have wing players with speed now, so no big deal.

Burden to what exactly? I just don't understand this thought? We are not cas strapped. We are not getting multiple max players. **** we be lucky to get one.
