What's new

Jazz trade Olynyk and Ochai to Toronto for Kira Lewis, Otto Porter, and a 2024 1st round pick

Right now the only two upsides I’m feeling are this gives last year’s rookies some burn and we finally get that Otto Porter trade everyone was clamoring for (8 years ago).

I don’t like punting on another season like this but at the end of the day it is the right move.

We were able to grab picks 29 and 32 currently in the draft plus opened up minutes for Hendricks and maybe Brice.

If we can be up making the play-in with the young guys playing that would be awesome and if we end up keeping a top-10 pick that would also be great.

We also created even more cap space this off-season with these trades.
Or we give OKC the 11th pick or something.

I wish we could have just traded KO and Clarkson and kept everyone else.

Oh well

Only good looking guys remaining on the roster are Lauri, Collins, Clarkson, and Samanic. Things are getting dangerous.
I don't think Lauri or Collins are good looking
I agree on the other two though

Curious, too, how THT shakes out now.

If this is the package for one rotation guy + a 3&D'er not worth giving up on yet, THT probably brings back nothing. Though I suspect we may have a handshake agreement with him to trade him anywhere he can get some PT to boost his stock before entering UFA this offseason. Would seem to be the right thing to do.

I don't get it. If it's to tank why now? What is the end goal here? Obviously to build a winner, but at what cost? We keep starting over with new guys with no chemistry with the rest of the team, before you know it Lauri is going to be past his prime.

It's all for Luka isn't it....

Let's not kid ourselves. Without further trades this team would be lucky to win 10+ games. Three rookies in the rotation and the bench (our biggest strength before) will struggle to get a 80 ORTG.

And keeping the top-10 pick this year is with these trades an especially bad thing, definitely not great.

I don't get how these two trades are punting on the season. There are plenty of guys on the bench that can step into these roles. They may not be as good, but it won't be some massive step down. and who knows, maybe some of these guys (Hendricks, Brice, THT, Knox, Porter, the new Italian stallion, anyone we grab from the G-league) will step up. Or we could just tighten the rotation and give some of our current guys more minutes (sexton, Dunn, Kessler).

I don't really get this trade at all. It bugs me more than the Fontecchio trade did.
