Doesn't matter. If we were just going to waive them anyway, why get something for free essentially?

I don't think the Jazz can sign him right away. Six month wait or something according to CBA? I am too lazy to look it up right now.

[written in 2013] He will make $510,000 this season and $ 816,482 next season, but his third-year salary of $947,276 is not guaranteed, and the team has an option for his fourth year at $1,015,696.

So if the Jazz waive him next year, they pocket a second rounder and $183,518 cash for keeping him on their roster this year. (Assuming the $1 million report is correct, and that none of his third year salary is guaranteed.) Sounds like a no brainer! Nice job DL.
