Jazz Tried to Sign Jason Terry

Lindsey is so full of ****. Remember when he said it would be disrespectful to Dante and his family to talk about adding someone? Meanwhile I'll bet he was in discussions with Terry's agent. Yes, he's a combo guard, but you can bet he would have gotten all his minutes at the point for Utah. Would have been a good one year stop-gap for the Jazz. Oh well.

LOL. No. Terry wouldn't start over Exum.

this is a pretty rough post, bro.

Pretty hard for Dante to start with a torn ACL. Isn't this a recent article? I guess DL can have it both ways. He can talk about not disrespecting Dante and his family while at the same time talking to agents about bringing another guy in.

And who gets released, Cotton? That's fine. But DL has also promulgated a philosophy of loyalty, of bringing guys in to develop. If you don't like Cotton, let him go now so he has a chance to sign on with another team or go to Europe.

I have nothing against DL. He's like every other GM in the business (and hopefully does it better). But don't speak out of both sides of your mouth. Just say you'll do what's in the best interests of the team. Or use the KOC line of always looking to make the team better.

So if it is a recent article how does it affect Dante? He's out for the year. Sign Terry to a 1-2 year deal. Burke starts, Terry comes off the bench. Flip flop it if Burke sucks. If we are semi-struggling and a deal can be made at the deadline for Burke or Terry, just do it. Assets are assets. If we're playing well, don't make the deal unless of course Neto and/or Cotton appear ready to e a legit backup in the time they've played. That would 15 guys and 4 pg's but so what. Terry can play the 2 behind Burks and Hood, the latter of whom can play more 3 behind Hayward.

Either way, it doesn't matter now. Terry's on the Rockets.

Please provide a link with what Linds said that's rubbing you the wrong way.

First we were rumored to be interested in Temple & now we reportedly attempted to sign Terry. The Temple rumor made sense if we were able to acquire him on the cheap (which apparently wasn't the case) as he would have allowed us to (attempt to) replicate the defensive style of play that we had success with while Exum was starting at PG to close out the season. Terry makes a little less sense to me due to the fact that his presence would likely change our style of play. This rumor leads me to believe that we are more concerned with upgrading without using valuable assets in order to do so. If that's the case then maybe we will look into signing Norris Cole or trading for Mario Chalmers (if it's in a salary dump). The Terry rumor could also indicate that we are looking to add a veteran presence in the process.

Personally, I believe that we should be looking to acquire a buy-low candidate such as Brandon Jennings (who may be available due to the Reggie Jackson extension in DET) or Avery Bradley (who may be available due to the excess of guards currently in BOS). Obviously the price is the determining factor, but if Bradley could be had for a 1st rd pick + salary filler, I see him as an ideal candidate due to the fact that he would provide elite perimeter defense, an offensive upgrade over our current options (as well as this year's version of Exum), & a reasonable contract (which will only become more reasonable as the salary cap increases) that extends beyond next season (although these reasons could cause the asking price to be higher than we're comfortable paying). Acquiring Bradley could also cause a potential logjam if/when Exum returns as I'm sure the FO still envisions him in the long-term plans (along with Burks, Hood, Hayward, possibly even Burke, etc). Either way, if there is truth to these latest rumors, it would appear that the FO is exploring all options to improve the PG position.

We don't need a veteran pg....I trust in Neto and Cotton.

If they both will disappoint then we can search some trade opportunities during the season.
