Jazz waive Brock Motum

I don't think Murry will be cut (yet). The roster is at 14 currently.

Murry does have a partially guaranteed contract, so there should actually be incentive to play him now before the date that he has to be cut before his contract becomes fully guaranteed.

Dahntay Jones played a lot of minutes in the preseason but he has been cut unexpectedly...

Jones was a non-guaranteed contract, so there was incentive to give him early burn so a quick decision could be made. He may also have earned PT in preseason in PT by playing well in training camp. Also, Felix and Burks were injured for large parts of preseason, who would have competed for the same minutes Jones did.

Murry competes for backup PG minutes with Exum and Clark. Obviously Exum is going to get a certain amount of allotted minutes for development since we put a 5th overall pick into him, but he also has to have a backcourt mate. I'm fairly certain Clark was probably on level footing with Murry to being the season. Quinn has no attachment to either player (for instance, Quinn didn't play Evans many minutes over Novak), so I believe Clark just outplayed Murry and earned his PT.

Can you link those whispers?

A lot of smoke around the Jazz right now, sounding like they might not be done making moves.

Weird timing on Jazz cuts, and some Jazz people were talking pretty openly earlier today. Wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't accidental.

I just like Murray's size for point guard and his court vision. When he did play he fouled a lot, he's probably good to have in practice though.

I'm not sure Clark is ahead of Murry because he played more in the preseason games.

Quin gave to Clark the chance to prove his game...but I'm not sure he showed something special.

Who said anything about special? This is just backup PG minutes for a team who showed 0 interest in signing a proven backup PG.

You think Murry is so good that we just gave him the whole preseason off to test run Clark?

So 1 random *** dude on twitter who works for the radio station and has only 2K followers?

The whole point of keeping 14 vs. 15 is that 14 gives you more flexibility in future move (as well as cheaper for the owner). Of course Utah is still looking to make moves, every team is. Having 14 just increases what we could potentially do. I don't think there is anything on the immediate horizon though.

I prefer to see Murry on the court if Exum struggles.

You have 0 basis to prefer Murry over Clark.

How many minutes of live game have you seen Murry play?

Have you ever seen Murry even play for a recorded game?

This is just an annoying ***, homeytennis style, "the grass is greener" I wish we would play Scrub A type post.

I could say the same about you pushing Clark.

Let's not make it a debate. Neither of two players will impact the Jazz season.

Holy **** dude, how many times do I have to say I'm not pushing Clark?

I haven't seen Murry play at all, besides highlights and the short time he got in preseason. (Assuming this is the same for anyone who isn't a Knicks or Wichita State fan)

I do however trust our coaching staff, who have so far (in my eyes) proven to me that they are pretty smart and know their ****. Our coaching staff is currently sending out the message that Clark has won the job over Murry, so I trust them.

The court will prove as always...

I do think that Murray could be a viable player, I think Clark as played pretty well so far too. It'll be interesting, because I thought Exum would get the majority of the backup pg minutes, but it seems like we'll bring him along slowly. It'll be fun too watch though...

It's not about backup PG minutes, but it's about having multiple playmakers/ballhandlers on the court at all times.

Felix isn't a ball-handler/playmaker.

Really the only 3 dudes off the bench who can be are Murry, Exum, and Clark. Only two of those dudes can get significant minutes.

I do like Murry from the highlights and the limited minutes he's played for the Jazz in the preseasons, scrimmage, etc. I think he has a higher upside than Clark...

But!!!

I think Murry's lack of shooting and lack of effort on the defensive end could be what's preventing him from getting more time.
