Jazz waive bye bye to Cotton and Graham

I'm a little surprised they cut him. Go Friars should be excited he got his wish. It may all come crumbling down when the guy never plays in the NBA again though. Is any team in the league hurting as much as the Jazz at PG this year? If he can't make this roster does he have a prayer anywhere else?

There is always another team, especially with teams adopting the philosophy of the ever revolving door for the final roster spots where teams just cut non-guaranteed contracts on December 15th then go through 10 day contracts.

I disagree, his athleticism wasn't more of an issue than his decision making:

Granted. I should have been more specific. I meant on the defensive end. Even short dudes of days past have had to at least be semi-competitive on that side to make it in the league.

Bummer. I was cheering for Cotton. I am sure that this was a tough decision given the injury to Exum. But length trumps and I think Withey deserves a spot. I like the competition that we have made for a few spots.

Yes, Guangdong Penguins need a point. :D

And my 3 year old is going to be devastated!!! He was a HUGE fan after that RMR come back. His favorite players all wear number 8 and are undersized. Joao Plata - Bryce Cotton.

I feel bad for RED. He brought a lot to this board. Both Johnson and Millsap have non-guaranteed Ks so if the waiver wire flotsam bears something of interest one or both could still be cut.

The Wizards have a bunch of PGs on their pre-season roster, including Ramon Sessions, Ish Smith, Gary Neal and this Garret Temple guy the Jazz were rumored to like. At least 1 or 2 of those guys should get waived soon, and they might all be better than Bryce Cotton. Even if the Jazz want a third PG, they could easily justify waiving Cotton in favor of other guys at the bottom of other teams' rosters.

The Bucks currently have 5 PGs on their roster, including MCW, Greivis Vasquez, Tyler Ennis, Jarryd Bayless, and some guy named Gutierrez.

Denver has Nick Johnson and Erick Green competing for their final roster spot according to ESPN. Both those guys can play a bit.

Looking at all those players the only ones I could see being waived are Ish Smith, Guitierrez, and Erick Green.

Erick Green would be the only one even worth a look in my opinion.. it would be kind of funny to pick him up to considering we basically traded him and cash for Rudy..

Based on the last game they played Green will be the man they keep. But if they do waive him Jazz should give it a deep thought. Last game had 16pts 4ast and 3/3 from 3. Johnson was bad. Also looking at the roster they seem to have more SGs than they need. Hey they also have that Jokic guy that the Jazz should have had.

Yes I did ! Thank you for letting him go and I feel bad that one day you will sincerely regret it, but alas on to brighter and greener pastures. Best of luck this season Jazz, still think you guys are a solid 4-5 years out from even remotely contending (which I am sure the homers on here will disagree and understandably so) but best of luck with Neto who cant hit water from a boat.

I wonder if our two guys in exile might be back sometime this year:
Zalgiris Kaunas rallied late to beat Stelmet Zielona Gora 62-66 in an exciting clash on Friday in Group C. The Polish champs seemed on course for an impressive victory when they took a double-digit lead late in the third quarter, but Paulius Jankunas, Olivier Hanlan and Brock Motum played big roles in leading a fourth-quarter comeback. Over the final six minutes of the game, Zalgiris outscored Zielona Gora 2-12 to storm to victory. Motum’s put-back slam with 1:10 was the go-ahead bucket and Renaldas Seibutis iced the win from the line. Jaunkunas finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks, while debutants Motum and Hanlan registered 16 and 14 points, respectively. Seibutis added 11 for the winners. Vlad Moldoveanu paced Zielona Gora with 16 points on 3-of-4 three-point shooting and Lukasz Koszarek added 14 in defeat.
