A-Train (old)

Well-Known Member
A-Train's Team:

PG Rajon Rondo
SG Stephen Curry
SF Jeff Green
PF Derrick Favors
C DeMarcus Cousins

6th man: Jamaal Crawford

Weezur's Team:

PG Chris Paul
SG Joe Johnson
SF Chandler Parsons
PF Serge Ibaka
C Tyson Chandler

6th man: Carlos Boozer

Not gonna lie, this is a close one.

Rondo vs. Paul, Paul has the edge over Rondo right now but not as far ahead as you think. (Weezur)
Curry vs. Johnson, Curry beats Johnson out right here. Johnson is pretty washed up. (A-Train)
Green vs. Parsons, both played really well in the playoffs this past season. (Tie)
Favors vs. Ibaka, as of right now Ibaka is the better player not going to lie. (Weezur)
Cousins vs. Chandler, Cousins destroys Chandler mostly because he is old and washed up. (A-Train)

So, it is 2-2 with one tie going into the sixth man.

Crawford vs. Boozer, Crawford is a great sixth man already and could play the one or two and even the three if we wanted to go small. Face it Weezur has a big as a sixth man, that doesn't usually work out. It just so happens to be Boozer. Favors and Cousins would both work Boozer, again because he is getting old. Bottom line is I win 3-2 with a tie and Weezur has three washed up players on his team.

both a horrible, both should be gone in previous round so I protest by not voting here.

I voted for the winner.

Can't believe I made it this far, but alright...time to kick it up a notch.
Here are some facts about my team:

Number 1.
NBA's 2013 All Defensive Roster: Chris Paul, Tony Allen, Lebron James, Serge Ibaka, and Tyson Chandler

Number 2. Chris Paul
According to Hoopshype, Chris Paul is the best NBA player of all time, pound for pound.
The method by which they got this statistic was by dividing Win Shares per 48 minutes by their weight.
In fact, Chris Paul is approximately 9% better in this category than the runner up, Micheal Jordan- In the data given, this is by far the greatest difference between two players ranked next to each other.

Number 3. Joe Johnson
When Joe Johnson was on the court for the Brooklyn Nets, the Nets' offensive rating boosted up from 103.5 to 112.3. The defensive rating per 100 possessions of the Nets dropped by 0.8 points meaning that the team performed better with Joe Johnson on the court, both offensively and defensively. In addition, Joe Johnson held opponent shooting guards to a PER of only 12.2. For reference, an astonishing 45 shooting guards had a greater PER than 12.2 meaning that Johnson held opponent shooting guards to below their PER a great % of the time.

Number 4. Chandler Parsons
According to SBNation, Chandler Parsons is the most cost effective player in the NBA.
Through March 10, Parsons had cost $1,165 per unit of production. The average cost of a unit of production this season is $13,938. Based on that price, Parsons' production this season has been worth $10.6 million. He's making $888,000. So he's currently worth roughly $10 million more than he's being paid. That's huge. That's like a free All-Star, almost.

Number 5. Serge Ibaka
According to NBA.com, Serge Ibaka is the best mid-ranged shooter in the NBA. Coach Brooks has even gone on record stating that out of the OKC roster, including Durant, that he would take Serge Ibaka's mid-ranged jumper over anyone else's.
How good is he?
"Ibaka ranks No. 1 among power forwards in field-goal percentage at 58.7 percent, a mark that would blow away his previous season-best of 54.3 percent (accomplished in both his first and second seasons)....He’s one of the best finishers in the restricted area, converting 74 percent of those attempts. And when he gets fouled down there, he’s making 83.7 percent of his free throws, third-best among power forwards."
Efficient, inside and out on offense and a defensive master.

Number 6. Tyson Chandler
Did you know that Tyson Chandler holds the NBA All-time best record in True Shooting % in a season?
According to basketball reference, Tyson Chandler in 2011-12 had a TS% of 70.8% recording it as best of all time.
But that's not it. In the 2010-11 season (championship run), Chandler claimed the 4th best TS% of all time with a TS% of 69.7%.
But that's still not it. Last season, Chandler claimed the 14th spot of all time with 67.1%.

Who cares if Tyson Chandler owns the record for TS% when it was 2 years ago? We are talking about today. Ibaka beats Favors which was already stated, once again what does Chandler Parsons being the most cost effective player have to do with a 7-game series? Win-shares by their weight? Why is that relevant? Lastly, Johnson is washed up. Just saying.

May the best team win.

Chandler owns 14th best record all time this year for TS%.
Ibaka beats Favors, which was already stated.
Being cost-effective means I have cap-space for Lebron James in the summer.
Win-shares by weight is important. It's a stat that makes it look like I have the best player of all time on my team.
If Joe Johnson is so washed up, why is it that the nets are a whole 0.8 points better on the floor with him defensively?!?

That LeBron comment was funny, but irrelevant.
Win-shares by weight is the stupidest thing ever.
Johnson has good defenders on his team to help him? (Lopez, Wallace, Evans)

I think that you're too invested on this being a 7 game series. If my team goes on to next year, I want to make sure I have cap-space.
If win-shares by weight is so stupid, then why is Stockton, your previous avatar, #3 of all time?!?!
Help defenders?!?
Lopez can't even help a blind woman see through a dark dark room.
Evans can't even make a free throw to save his life, how's that dude gonna defend?

Reggie Evans averaged almost 12 rebounds per game, dude is only in there for defense and rebounds.
Brook Lopez averaged 2.1 blocks per game, but no he can't defend.
You are just hurting yourself, keep going this is fun.

Aight, that's enough trolling for one night. A-Train, if you win this....then it's been real, man.

Jeff Green 20.3 PPG in the playoffs last year, almost 2 PPG more than Parsons.

DeMarcus Cousins 17.1 PPG last year vs. Chandler's 10.4 PPG.

Cousins averaged 1.4 SPG and almost a block per game.

Rondo vs. Paul, Paul has the edge over Rondo right now but not as far ahead as you think. (Weezur)

But, but.... Chandler got EXPPERIENCE!1!1
