Would like to read Harper Lee's recently published book "To Set a Watchman" - - anybody read it?

I recently reread To Kill a Mockingbird and loved it. I recall I didn't really like it when I read it the first time, in junior high or sometime around then. I think I didn't like the writing style and found it difficult to read, which made the story very difficult to follow.

I haven't but I listened to a books podcast about it. From what I understand, it is an early draft of To Kill a Mockingbird but since it takes place after the events of TKaM, they decided to release it as a sequel. If you take it as totally different characters but sharing the same names as Atticus and Scout, I've heard it's not bad. An old lady the other day told me she hated it though.

I'd like more negative reviews like this.

I've recently read The Shapeshifters Stefan Spjut and didn't care for it. It's written as the beginning of a potential trilogy but apparently wasn't good enough to add anything interesting to the dry beginning book.

Have you tried reading Ulysses? I thought it was okay but I found the author's vocabulary to be lacking. Fortunately the plot was swashbuckling and I finished it in an afternoon.

No to Ulysses.

Has anyone read The Runelords by David Farland? Apparently he's an LDS author and the religious undertones are pretty apparent (not religion per se, but ethical undertones). I'm not sure I want to continue on until hearing what others think of the series. I rate the first book 3 out of 5. Easy story to read but not much to make a reader addicted.

Just finished Mr Mercedes.
Now I'm reading the sequel (fingers keepers)

Finished the first two The Lies of Locke Lamora. The first was better than the second but both had some very funny stuff.

Trout, the humor is up your alley. Listen to the first and tell me what you think.
