Cop out ending? You can't be serious... In a million years, did you see that coming?

“Ka is a wheel; its one purpose is to turn. The spin of ka always brings us back to the same place, to face and reface our mistakes and defeats until we can learn from them. When we learn from the past, the wheel continues to move forward, towards growth and evolution. When we don’t, the wheel spins backward, and we are given another chance. If once more we squander the opportunity, the wheel continues its rotation towards devolution, or destruction.”

It is pounded into your subconscious for several books; far cry from a cop out.

Fair enough.
I wanted closure though

Yeah I get the whole ka thing. To me the cop out was in the crimson king. Here is a dude that can orchestrate vast highly complex and mystical plots, in multiple dimensions and realms at once, all with the aim of destroying the very fabric of reality on all levels, and very nearly succeed in doing just that, yet he really is just a blubbering idiot with a plot device stolen from Harry Potter, of all people. King had the chance to make this the most ueber-powerful dark-lord bad guy of all time and we got an inbred nutjob. He definitely finagled a few woogets there. Then, we just erase him. It's just that easy!

Even with the eternal loop, I really felt like he had reached a point where he didn't know how to proceed further, so he just cut it off the easiest way possible, ala Dallas and "Bobby really wasn't dead, it was all a dream". Yeah it made sense in the context of ka but it was anything but a great and complete ending. Could have been far better. Warranted another book, imo.

I see what you're saying, but again, it all kind of makes sense if you ask me. If you read his other works, the Red King has been going mad for some time, so it's not like it was out of the blue. The Artist is also in other books and his part in the story is bad *** if you know where/how he came into being.

I'm just saying, I thought it was one of the greatest endings of a story ever written.

I'm in the middle of Duma Key by King. Pretty freaking weird so far. I'm pretty sure I've caught references to Rose Madder, the Red King, and a few others that I can't think of off the top of my head. As soon as I'm done, I'm reading The Shining pt 2, or Dr. Sleep or whatever it's called.

I still was unhappy with the ending but i loved how he brought in the kid from insomnia to have a big part in the end
