JazzFanz Official Draft Rumors Thread '13

For me, it's about seeing an uncommon talent (long, athletic 6' 6" guard that can handle the ball, get to the rim, make tough shots around the rim, get the line, can hit long open shots, boards very well, and can do some nice facilitation along the way) not get a fair chance. I've said since before the 2011 season that Burks is more of a boom/bust pick because of his skillset, and it would be hard to part with a talent that might boom before he got a fair shake and I simply do not feel that he has. The worst I've seen him play was when he was thrown into garbage time at the beginning of last year after getting unceremoniously buried behind mediocre journeyman (for the second straight year).

If Burke is going to get a fair shake, we will need to run a system that plays to his strengths. By that I don't mean bring back Foye and let him eat up 90% of the time that Burke should be on the floor.
Burke is exciting to watch, and makes things happen. When (if) he gets a chance to improve he will have a great impact on a team. It just may not be the Jazz...

If we're confident Shabazz will be there at #14, then I'd be fine with trading Burks/21 for Burke or McCollum. And I love Burks.

Per Andy Katz tweet: No trades were submitted to the league by the 2pm ET deadline. Darft order is set.

I think one of them (Burke/McCollum) would likely be there at #10. We could probably get to #10 with 14 + 21.

One of them might be there at #12, and we could definitely get #12 in a trade scenario.

I think Detroit would take Carter-Williams or Zeller at 8.

I think Minnesota would take Caldwelll-Pope if they stay at #9. If they move up, then maybe the team that takes their pick might take McCollum.

So if both McCollum and Burke are on the board at #8, I think they both slip to 10, and one of them might even slip to 13, because Philly and OKC want bigs.

Then there are rumors that teams trading with Dallas for #13 want Karasev.

So.....

First 6: Noel, Dipo, McClemore, Len, Porter, Bennett.

What Sacramento does at #7 is key. If they go with either Zeller or Carter-Williams, we have a real shot at either Burke or McCollum simply falling to the Jazz.

This means that teams are going to watch how the draft shakes out and trade after the fact. Not good or bad news either way.
