Jeff Hornacek has officially been promoted to an assistant on Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin's staff.

Hornacek has served as a shooting consultant for Utah during the past three seasons. He joins longtime assistant Scott Layden.

Corbin said today that he will wait to add a third assistant — he wants to make sure the move is right and works in the long term — and might add a developmental coach in the future.

Not sure how good of a coach Horny will be but I think this is a good move. Bad news that he is waiting to fill the next position. Gordy is the obvious choice and should be brought in today - even before Horny.

i would like to see a coach good with big men get the other slot. Especially one who can coach Al to be more physical and help Fes with his offensive game.

Great move. Hornacek lends credibilty to the coaching staff and is a fan favorite.

I hope they find some room somewhere for Gordon Chiesa in the organization. He has maintained his local ties even though he works for the Memphis Grizzlies. He has good energy and is a good communicator. Jazz could use some positive energy and and good communication right now. I think he could really help Deron develop better people skills.

Jeff will be the obvious choice for Head Coach, once Corbin decides to bow out. Which will probably happen this summer.

If nothing else, having Jeff onboard will please fans sour at Sloan's departure -- a reassurance that The Old School has not, in fact, left the building.

Why will Corbin bow out this summer?
