Jefferson lacks Fire

Everytime I hear this guy talk about the Spurs he is saying how good they are. The guy cant wait to talk about how good Tim Duncan is and how unbeatable the Spurs are. The guy even said he doesnt think anyone can beat the Spurs. Uh, hello Jefferson, you are still playing the Spurs. This guy is already waving the white flag.

I cant stand this laid back attitude of his. You can see it in his game too. The guy wont make any hustle plays. His attitude also permeates through the team. I dont see any fire from anyone but Earl Watson, and he isnt playing. Hayward is letting people poke him in the ear. Favors is letting Dirk knock the ball out of his hands. I just feel like Jefferson's personality is making the rest of the players on our team soft. The Jazz are a bigger and more athletic team than the Spurs and they are pushed around and out hustled. Our crowd cant even get into the game, because everyone is scared on our team.

I think this all comes down to leadership. Jefferson seems far too laid back, and Corbin might be that way as well. (I dont see what goes on in practice, and havent heard anything). We need some better leadership. Some more tough guys. Earl I think would be a big help right now.

I hear so many people hate on Dwill and his attitude. Well thats exactly what we need. We need someone to keep all these softies on there toes and on edge. Everybody was so happy to lose his attitude. Well now look at our team. Its soft as hell. And before you go off about how good the trade for Favors was. I get it. I am mostly just bagging on Jefferson and KOC for bringing in soft people.

If KOC doesnt do something about this, this off season. Then we could have long term problems. All this talk about our Vets helping teaching our young guys. Well what are they teaching them? How to shrivel up in big moments? Not good in my opinion. We need to lose Jefferson fast before our guys get used to this.

I agree on the part of Jefferson but do you really have a complaint about how Hayward handled the finger poke? He let West get called for the technical and then hit a 3 pointer from the top of the key.

I'd take a team full of guys that let the other team make mental mistakes and get hit with technical fouls rather than have someone who reacts and gets T'd up or suspended during a critical stretch of the season like 5 games of the season during a playoff battle.

Jefferson is the anti-Malone. When Malone's game wasn't working, he did everything in his power to get to the free throw line. Malone had the fire in his eyes and everyone saw it when things weren't going his way, he would MAKE it go his way. And that's the best thing a player can do when he's struggling to create his shot from the field. Jefferson needs to create contact and create fouls on Timmy and Splitter to help this team. The fact that Pop knows he's never going to have anyone besides maybe Bonner in any sort of foul trouble makes it so easy for him to pick his lineup and dictate the game how HE wants it to be played.

For us to beat this Spurs team, Jefferson needs to figure out in the next, oh, 9 hours or so, how to get to the free throw line about 8-10 times tonight...will he? I wouldn't bet on it.

Off-topic: I'm still glad we didn't tank to get a draft pick.

Jefferson is showing a lack of desire. He seems in awe of Duncan. WTF no opponent should be in awe of Duncan. YOu should be out there to destroy him. Duncan is out running him up and down the court. This proves the saying not about the size of the dog in the fight. Because we have young legs more athleticism etc.

Off topic - we should not have made the playoffs probably the worse move we have made.

Off topic - the worse move we've made is drafting Raul Lopez over Tony Parker. Another Morris Almond or Kirk Snyder pick on this team would be more worthless than a 4-0 sweep from the Spurs. Again, I'm glad KOC isn't going to get a chance to draft another bust. The 2nd round and non-drafted players is where KOC excels and that's what this team should strive for to keep him drafting later, not earlier.

If our two choices for team leader's attitude is Al Jefferson's or Deron Williams' - we're ****ed either way. Yes Al's not a winner but DW is a pissy little whiner. At the end of the day both players get you to the same place.

Agreed. But Deron atleast tried...Jefferson's pretty much admitted defeat and the second he misses his first shot or we get down by more than 6, he's going to quit.

Both players get you the same place? Really? Ur stupid

I'd rather have Big Al as he takes on the accountability that comes with the job while Deron always seemed to point fingers or carry himself as if the lack of talent around him was why they lost. **** Deron.

Al taking accountability is him saying that he's tried his best, and there's nothing he can do. The other team is better than him, and he's just fine with that.

And yeah, Deron, after we traded his pillow fort pal, Brewer, he was never the same player. Always blaming the team, instead of himself, but look at his team when he left... Al Jefferson, Bell, CJ... and not the new guys Deron didn't really get a chance to play with (ie. Favors, Burks, Kanter, and Hayward—I know he got to play with Hayward 1/2 of last year, but I don't think that counts)

Deron was right, his team did suck...especially when everyone found out how much of a "non-winner" Jefferson was.

I meant this year

not worse more ever because KOC has a list of garbage. I think his worst move was to hold on to Boozer. I hope he doesn't do the same thing with Jefferson.

You guys are just terrible. Oh how memory has failed you people. You guys are probably the same people who own a signed Dwill jersey. All of you know what he brought to this team and what he did. Your fan ignorance however is causing you to say stupid ****. This is about Al. But you are trying so hard to diss Deron , now you are saying how cool it is that Al is nice and soft.

This isnt a cup cake making contest. This is big boy business. If the ownership and fans have such a hard time with a player who has a little chip on his shoulder then this team is doomed to never win a championship. Its not a requirement to run a little hot to be a winner, but most the people who are winners do run a little hot. A guy like Tim Duncan and Eli Manning are rare. Most of the other guys are the Kobe's and Jordan's. You dont think those guys are a little bit dickish? Cmon you clowns. Wake the hell up. Im tired of having a soft team. We need more fans that demand more. Not soft jelly fans like Mantooth

Quotes by Al Jefferson:
"We’re playing against a team that is at its peak, and I don’t see nobody beating ’em. … It’s a great team. I just take my hat off to ’em. Mad respect,"

"It gets to the point where you’re just playing a team that’s better than you; that know what it takes to win and know how to win.

"If you lose to a team because you didn’t play your best, that’s one thing. If you’re playing your best and doing everything that you can, and you’re just playing against a team that’s better than you, that’s another one."
IMO, these quotes further demonstrate why it was imperative the Jazz went all out in trying to compete for a playoff berth. Jefferson's essentially been on horrible, losing teams his entire career...and you see almost a "loser mentality" (I'm not calling Al a loser) come to the surface when the going gets tough - sort of some mopey "oh man, here we go again" body language. "Yep, I tried but the other guy is just better."

After 5, 6, years of losing - it's easier to accept it. If you're accustomed to being in the postseason in college (Hayward/Favors both played in the NCAAs, and Burks' team made an NIT run) and then in the NBA playoffs, you've got a higher ground-floor for what you can accept in terms of success and failure.

By what he said, Big Al is just giving himself a big old excuse for losing the series ahead of time. "See? They beat the crap out of us. Didn't I say they were good? No way we were going to beat them anyway. Now where'd I put my Hawaii tickets?"

Big Al is already on vacation. You don't ever concede like that before it's 100% officially over. Where's the fire? Where's the ego? Where's the belief? If our leading scorer doesn't believe, why should the rest of the team or the fans? Like Smith said in the video, you can't talk like that and then expect fans to show up and support you. I think Big Al should get some big quality bench time tonight.

Dude seriously needs to be benched. Will he though? No. This is the Jazz way. They try to cover up their mistakes and pretend nothing is wrong with the situation. And they get away with it because we have a majority of our fans that blindly worship authority. Anyone wanna guess where that mentality comes from?

This ball club does dome dumb **** sometimes. They are willing to sacrifice winning for saving face.
