Jeremy Evans at the 3

In another thread someone mentioned about how athletic the front court is when combining Evans and Favors.

I am excited about the potential of both. A few weeks ago (maybe a month), I was listening to the post game show where Nissalke interviews Phil Johnson. Phil Johnson said that they eventually want to play Evans at the 3. He thought Evan's natural position was the 3 and not the 4. While the Jazz did want him to continue bulking up (to play the 4), they said that the reason he doesn't play the 3 now is because he isn't a good enough passer to play in the Jazz offense.

So, I am assuming that Corbin will keep most of the Jazz offense, especially for the rest of the year. But I am excited about Evans eventually getting better and better and playing the 3 with Favors at the 4. That is a great rebounding and shot blocking tandem.

That is all.

So

Harris
Hayward
Evans
Favors
AJ

New starting lineup. I say go for it.

That could be a dynamic grouping, but weak with the jump shots. That leaves Kirilenko, Miles, Okur, and Millsap off the bench, with Watson pushing the ball. I could get to like both units if Hayward and Evans developed consistant jumpers!

If you're building for the future and you are likely to miss the playoffs I don't see why you wouldn't play that group as the starters and let them grow together and gel.

I might start AK at the 3 and bring Evans off the bench for his energy and hustle.

That starting lineup also gives you a pretty damn strong bench.

Watson
CJ/Bell
AK
Sap
Elson/Memo

The starting lineup could surprise some folks and the bench would be tough for any other bench in the league. I don't think this mix will win a ton of games but I cannot imagine that would be the top priority right now.

Evans at the 3? Well, I guess management has not yet figured out the thing about having shooters in this league. Or can Evans take off from behind the arc and still dunk the ball?

Don't we want a 3 that can at least hit a corner 3? Evans would need to develope a jump shot and some passing ability before we could ever seriously consider him a 3.

Evans has already hit some corner jumpers in rhythm without hesitation during games. He has a pretty good stroke that I think he could easily develop.

We don't have a 3 now that can hit a corner 3. I vote for trying it, or at least make Evans the first guy off the bench at the 3 spot or something.
