Do you think Jeremy is passionate about basketball? Would he be considered a gym rat - was he one in college? How would you describe his love for the game? In interviews he seems like a pretty laid back, nice kid, who's passion is art. I just can't get a read on how much he wants to be in the NBA in interviews. Think he will work hard in the offseason to gain weight/muscle, improve his skills as a player, etc. Any thoughts?

Hey, you don't have to insult me by saying I'm from Utah. I'm a CA boy. And I explained myself in another post. WKU is a "mid-major." And a very good one at that. But they are NOT in a major D1 conference. Say what you want about BYU and/or Utah's lack of success in bball. But their facilities are first-rate - largely because of the football revenue that pours in. And that was my point re: Evans. He may not have had access to great weight and strength training specialists.

I'm not belittling him at all. I was cheering for him in the OSL as much as I was for Hayward. I liked his effort. And I agree with Qman; he has a lot more in common with AK than with KD. AK had quite a few very good seasons of being a high energy guy and going for blocks, rebounds and steals, despite never developing a decent outside shot. If Evans could become an "AK-lite" (not quite as good on blocks & steals, but hopefully a better shooter), then I'd be thrilled.

He is very passionate live, sleeps basketball. I grew up with him so believe me I know. It really doesnt matter to much how hard he works to gain weight it wont take to him. He is just a long skinny guy thats how all of his family members are. As far as improving skills go if sloans learns how to unlock him which im pretty sure he will then he will have no problem improving in Utah
 
i didn't get to see Evans play other than a few highlight clips. does he appear to have the frame that can put weights on or he will be skinny and weak for the rest of his life?

i don't mind getting a stromile swift with a 50th pick, but swift seems to be much stronger than evans.

A player in the paint needs to keep his focus on the BASKETBALL, even when a bigger guy pushes on him. The key is to not let a big guy ride you away from the basketball; move your feet, twist or spin off/around him, bend your knees to take away his leverage. DON'T get caught up in a pushing contest; the GOAL as a rebounder is to END UP in position to get your hands on the basketball once a shot goes up!
Dennis Rodman was 6'8" and around 200 pounds and became a MASTER at this. There was a reason he was nicknamed "the worm"; he was very slippery when much bigger players tried to ride him; he almost ALWAYS ended up with better position to get his hands on the basketball after a shot went up. Jerremy could learn a LOT from watching some of the early film of Rodman's games as a Piston...
It is encouraging to hear Jerremy has a real passion for basketball; Dennis Rodman did too. He learned and understood the nuances of rebounding early-on, before gettin' a little crazy later in life...:cool:
 
Just to let some of you know how well Evans shooting is. When he worked out with the Jazz he went 10/10 in a 3point drill they had no one else at the camp did this. So I guess thats just luck.

Proof?

I hope he turns out to be a good player, but your predictions are absurd. There is not one stat over the course of his carrer at WKU that would lead anyone to believe he will have a Durant like carrer. You do realize Durant is the 1st or 2nd best player in the NBA right?
 
Yes I do realize that and like I said before Ive known Jeremy since he was young I know what type of player he is. I know the game of basketball very well.
 
I would say that you have high hopes for your friend but dude get off that. He aint ballin at KD's level. I played ball with Marcus Banks and thought he was the quickest player I had ever seen and unstopable. Apparantly Danny Ainge thought the same thing, but we were the only two. Just because you played HS ball with someone dont mean he is going to transition to the next level, ya dig? I am on board with the Stromile Swift likeness, but man KD? KD?
